Hopefully it was just a bad coach and protection that caused it. The big plus I see is, he's a Pro Style QB! Holy crap! Who knew the NCAA could produce a non-gimmick QB? Its not all that, but there are foot mechanics to fix. He is a natural under center QB who has good footwork dropping back. In Franklins offense they made him play mostly in shotgun/pistol and he tended to have lazy feet at points. Easily fixable. He can read and adjust to defenses something that may possibly never be taught to others.

We could have a "field general" type of QB who's a pocket passer with a rocket arm. Might have even been worth a 1st rounder, but given all the bad hype, Macc figured he could wait 'til the 2nd. Hell of a job Macc!

You know Hack wanted to be like, "My oLine FU@KIN BLEW dumb@ss!" It's unfair to say he Oline "blew", it was far far worse than that. The kid never had time to make a pass. And when he did, he was gun shy from the 5 sacks he already took in the 1st half. If he gets good Oline play, works on his foot work and has Decker and Marshall to pass to, this kid could get start year 1. I know everyone says he is a project, but he really isn't a project. He is a smart kid that can read an NFL defense today. With that said, he MAY be broken. Meaning, the 2 years under Franklin and behind an AWFUL Oline broke his mechanics/mind and he will never be able to re-teach himself what came naturally to him in year 1 under O'brien. That is why he was a very good pick in RD 2, but would have been a bad pick Rd 1. Macc gets it. He knows that with Petty/Hack he has 2 kids with big arms that have "Franchise QB" potential. Whether they evolve into franchise QBs is up to the Kids and Gailey. Let us pray....

It's as if you believe 1 good season overshadows decades of dominance. Yet nothing was won. If the Jets are ever able to build sustainable excellence and multiple dynasties like the Yankees, you will walk proud and talk loud. It isn't arrogance just because you don't like reality. The statement that the Yankees are the greatest team in the history of American sports is simply a factual statement. Pray that the Jets can sniff that even a little.
