Are you ******* kidding me? Ask Eagles fans what they think of that trade. Good lord the Rex hate is getting delusional if you think trading Alonso for McCoy was not a steal. ******* Eagles ended up trading Alonso cause the dude was a ghost on tape.

They traded him because he was injured.  That does not detract from the fact that Rex saw fit to trade away an athletic ILB only to draft another ILB in Year 2.  Meanwhile, McCoy is running on borrowed time with the way the Eagles overworked him.

Dude is clueless when it comes to evaluating talent, and thinks he needs Pro Bowl talent at every position in order to make his defense successful.  Meanwhile, they were a top 5 unit under Schwartz.

They traded him and Maxwell to move up 5 spots in the draft. Let's be real here, they traded him for hardly anything. Maybe he works out in Miami and recovers, but counting on the dude who's missed two seasons already cause of injuries is dumb as hell. The guy is injury prone and unreliable.

Revisionist history.  The Bills had a top 5 defense the year before and got solid QB play out of Tyrod Taylor.  That should have been a playoff team, not an 8-8 squad whose lone success of the season was a sweep over the Jets.

And you're really only going to credit Macc for picking up 5 wins on the previous season?  Really?  No credit to Bowles there?  You know, the guy that hired Chan Gailey to run a successful offense and quickly developed players like Lorenzo Mauldin, Calvin Pryor, Leonard Williams, and even Erin Henderson?  All right then.

This "player development" argument is so overrated.  Some players are good, some players are bad.  Those bad players will never turn into good players.  Did Bowles forget to develop Geno Smith?

The most important thing is picking good players.  The Jets now have a GM who picks good players.  Do I think Bowles is a good coach?  Not particularly, but Mac is a good GM and as long as he keeps picking up good players, the Jets will be good.

Leonard Williams was the second defensive player taken in the draft and the highest rated player in the draft by many pundits.  What the **** did you expect out of him?  Ronald Darby was a second round pick and was the best defensive rookie in the league (Rex must be a better developer of talent than Bowles).  Tyrod Taylor went from 6th round third stringer to solid starter (by the way, I think it's funny how you don't give Rex credit for that one).   Sammie Watkins looked absolutely unstoppable when he actually played.  Karlos Williams looked fantastic.  Incognito looked good after a long layoff.  I guess Rex did a great job developing his players.  Or maybe his GM just picked good players?

Just so you know, Doug Whaley is the GM of the Bills.

Remember that time the Bills hired Rex, fired Jim Schwartz after the defense was a top 5 unit in 2014, then the defense allowed nearly 4,000 yards of passing offense in 2015?

Then, the Bills were forced to take defensive players with their first 3 picks in 2016 (because clearly lack of talent was the issue, and not a scheme that poorly utilized and pissed off his ridiculously dominant defensive line)?

And then Rex hired his brother (notoriously bad at his job) to coach them?

Good times.

Remember when Rex said of Schwartz's defense that finishing 4th overall was a disappointment? Good times.

Can't believe Rex keeps finding all these villainous GMs who exist solely to sabotage him year after year. When will these conspirators be called out for who they are?????

I'm not reveling in injury.  I'm reveling in the fact that we won't have to worry about the Bills over the long haul as long as Rex is there.  The Bills never should have had to draft a Ragland in the first place.  Or a Shaq Lawson either, for that matter.  But Rex sucks at coaching defense these days, even when that used to be the one thing he could hang his hat on.

Rex jumped the shark years ago.  That's the "big picture" I'm talking about here.

Rex is a genius so long as he has 7+ first rounders on his defense.

I give most of the credit to Enemkpali

Though I see what you're saying and I don't think you were reveling the injury, the Jets also "should have been" a playoff team last season. Rex and the Bills literally destroyed that. Rex became the Jets head coach and always wanted to beat the Ravens but never could. He gets booted out of NY, heads up North to the same division, goes undefeated against us and sours the playoff bound party. Rex is owning us at this point.

Rex gave the rookie head coach the razzle dazzle. We all know how Rex can get his squad fired up for any given game. If the NFL season was 1 week longer, Rex's team would've lost 65-2 in week 18 last year.

Typical Rex defense, number of sacks were cut IN HALF. I think BUFF went from #1 to #32 in sacks last year. Ridiculous.

If Geno didn't jump in front of that fist, we might've found out.

Just like how bills sucked last year, while they were supposed to be playoff bound, Jets were the same. Easiest schedule in the league, picked up and upgraded 7 starters in the FA or trade (Revis, Cro, Gilchrist, Skrine, Carpenter, Marshall and Fitz) and had the luxury of a high draft pick that further resulted in him selecting the best player of the draft at the time. That's 8 new starters and about $50 mil of additional average salary compared to 2014.

So yeah, the talent level and the schedule werent nearly as close to the 4-12 Jets team you're talking about. The team had playoffs written across its forehead. We weren't playing for a 6-10 season. Bowles n Mac inherited the perfect situation. Decent team, sh!t ton of cap space and high draft picks with an extremely weak schedule.

Hey Neat, Look What We Found

Then there’s the Bills, who managed to find themselves a veteran backup who seemingly turned into a real franchise quarterback. Tyrod Taylor finished seventh among quarterbacks in ESPN’s QBR metric and eighth in Football Outsiders DVOA in 2015 after signing a paltry three-year, $3.35 million deal. Taylor’s 36th-ranked $3.1 million cap hit among quarterbacks in 2016 helped Buffalo re-sign left tackle Cordy Glenn to a five-year, $60 million deal that includes a $6.2 million cap hit in 2016. It also allows the Bills to continue to spend big on defense — defensive lineman Marcell Dareus ($14.6 million), cornerback Stephon Gilmore ($11.1 million), pass rusher Jerry Hughes ($7.6 million), defensive lineman Kyle Williams ($6.3 million), and cornerback Aaron Williams ($6.1 million) form the team’s big-money nucleus. Plus, the leeway Taylor’s contract provides makes the released Mario Williams’s $7 million cap hit sting just a little less. If only Rex Ryan could get all those guys to play at a level higher than the 24th-best DVOA.

lol.  The GM picks the groceries.  The coach develops them.  Just because Rex never developed a single player doesn't mean other coaches can't.  Pryor was basically worthless under Rex, and became a player under Bowles.  Wonder what happened there?

Geno wasn't a player Bowles wanted or cared about.  Was Bowles supposed to tell IK not to punch him before it happened or something?
