Rookie safety Doug Middleton had plenty of reason to smile after sealing a Jets win with an interception.

Having trimmed their roster to the required 75 players prior to tomorrow night’s final preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the list of the players let go by the Jets is a positive development for one of Gang Green’s many undrafted free agent rookies.

In cutting ties with Dion Bailey, the Jets have one less safety in the room while Appalachian State product Doug Middleton has made it through to the next round of cuts.

The rangy 6′ , 210 lb Middleton was one of the first undrafted free agents added to the roster after impressing team brass during OTA’s. With Marcus Gilchirst and Calvin Pryor set as the team’s starters and Rontez Miles likely to stick as well, Middleton will compete with Ronald Martin for what is possibly the final safety spot.

Running back Romar Morris and defensive lineman Jake Ceresna were also let go by the Jets.  Don’t be surprised if we see Morris’ name again when practice squad signings are announced.

Realistic possibility that 3 UDFAs make the 53. That would be some haul if they pan out, in addition to our draft picks.

I think this is where the Jets make hay sweeping out Bradway & the boys. A great scout cuts his teeth on the road, in cheap hotels, in small towns, it's not easy work & you can bet takes its toll over the years. Macc brought in his own youngsters. Hungry dudes still in love with their job, still trying to make a name for themselves & trying to be the guy that finds those diamonds in the rough.

Just imagine like you said, Anderson, Marshall & Middleton becoming future contributors! All of them are really hard workers with tremendous character. That would be like having 2 drafts in one year. That's how you make up for those 2nd round misses.
