Jetster
Bengal are a very aggressive defense. I'm praying that we've been working on a lot of misdirection plays to keep this great Dline from over pursuing. A Forte to J. Marshall reverse when we get over the 50 yardline might be a TD. I think you have to work Anderson on their 4th CB too, or Enunwa on a LB or safety. Keep doing it too until they adjust. You know damn well they'll try to 1- Stop the inside run game (I hope Chan doesn't waste too many downs crashing up the middle), 2- Roll coverage to Marshall, which is why Decker kills out of the slot. The problem is the Bengals knock down a lot of passes & Fitz is short and gets passes batted down. He might have to get creative to give himself some passing lanes. To beat playoff teams like the Bengals you need all hands on deck! We need Powell to contribute off the bench, we need our 3rd & 4th WRs to contribute. We need great downfield blocking by all the WRs. We may need a big play from Special Teams. A long Folk FG, a punt that gets grounded at the 1 yard line, that turns into a huge turnover for Cincy. The Bengal are a damn good team but the Jets are pretty loaded themselves. I'm sure when Marvin Lewis looks out there Sunday & sees the Jets line up Marshall, Decker, Enunwa & Forte, he'll know they ain't playing the Cleveland Browns. Need some good OL play, both to keep Fitz clean and run the ball. No penalties. The Bengwads will beat themselves if you can do that. Bengwads? That's a new one. Gas2No99
Jets won't exclusively use Darrelle Revis 1-on-1 with Bengals' AJ Green Dick Semen-iESPN Staff Write FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Are the New York Jets closing Revis Island? In a tactical departure from previous years, cornerback Darrelle Reviswon't be used exclusively on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Greenon Sunday, according to the Jets. "It won't be just Revis, it will be a lot of people," defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said on Thursday. "A.J. is a tremendous player. We've got to have 11 sets of eyes, knowing where he is. ... It's not necessarily a one-on-one matchup." For nearly his entire career, Revis has covered the opposing team's No. 1 receiver on a down-to-down basis, often with no safety help. His ability to thrive in such situations spawned the "Revis Island" moniker. He has made the Pro Bowl in seven of his nine seasons, establishing himself as one of the premier lockdown corners of this generation. But now he's 31 years old, coming off offseason wrist surgery. Revis said he's healthy after missing some practice time early in training camp, but he understands the rationale behind the new approach. "To start the season off, we have to be cautious a little bit because we have some tough games coming ahead," Revis said. "I think the game plan this week is very comfortable for everybody. "We're going to try to switch things up a little bit this week for us to maybe wear [down] some of their guys on offense, just wear 'em down a little bit," Revis added. "That's just mixing guys in and out or lining up guys in the scheme we're trying to do." Green poses "every challenge possible," according to Revis. The 6-foot-4 burner caught 86 passes for 1,297 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Ordinarily, this would be the ideal Revis matchup -- best-on-best -- but the Jets have downplayed the Revis-Green angle. "That's just one of many matchups," coach Todd Bowles said. "It's a team effort, and we've got to pick our spots, and I'm sure they have to pick their spots. It's not even about Revis and Green, it's about us against them." Revis said this will make the defense less predictable because "it might be difficult for the offense to ID guys or see where guys are. It will be a lot of confusion, and it will be to our benefit. That's one of the things, coming into this week, we're trying to accomplish." It wasn't a vintage Revis season in 2015, as he struggled against DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins, but he played most of the season with a torn tendon in his wrist. It affected his ability to play bump-and-run -- his forte. "It's definitely good to feel good and be able to strike at the line of scrimmage and jam guys," he said. "For me, it took time and patience, and I'm finally at the point where I can actually do that."

Can Cincy's pedestrian secondary contain the Jets' main offensive strength and quality depth: the WRs? I think not, so HC Lewis & crew will most likely throw the kitchen sink at us w/blitzes and overloaded fronts to pressure & FORCE Fitzpatrick into an INT or fumble. The O-line does a better job protecting the pass than they do establishing the run, and considering the RUN game had NO time to establish a "mojo" and rhythm with the penciled-in starters in the preseason, we MAY see a lot of 3 and outs if Fitz can't convert and the run game STILL hasn't gotten out of first gear. This is what concerns me, that our BREAD and BUTTER last year was a POWER run game which alleviated pressure off of #14 to carry the offense while keeping opposing defenses honest - see week 17 @ Buffalo to witness when this deficiency was exposed. We NO LONGER, at least according to preseason, have a strong run game and will most likely depend on Fitzpatrick and his quick reads EVEN MORE this season. Dunlap and Atkins are formidable barriers on Cincy's D-Line which, as stated by others already, will make it ALL THE HARDER for this weak run-game O-Line to set a tone & maintain drives. Cincy will overload to stop the run game and keep pressure on Fitz forcing him to be the catalyst for the offense - history has not shown brightly on #14 during these circumstances. Solution? Keep a TE in AT ALL times for blocking and use VARIOUS counters, sweeps, and misdirection play-actions to capitalize on Cincy's mediocre LB coverage & speed. This should hopefully buy a few extra seconds for either our MONSTER WRs to establish position against the CBs and our RBs to be in more space in the flat for one-on-one opportunities vs. LBs/Safties to gain yardage. Cincy Pass Game: Cincy is injured and only have A.Green as an offensive threat, IMO. LaFell is a JAG and Eifert is out w/Kroft nursing a leg injury. Advantage: NY Jets secondary. If our D-Line is still as porous against the Run game as a 14 year old's greasy forehead, we are in trouble. Hill and Bernard will EASILY wear out our defense if we play as we did vs. Jax and The REDSkins in August. That's where I can see Cincy eek out a win if we can't convert to maintain offensive drives and their run game gasses our defense. I'm confident these matters will be addressed and the Jets will emerge victorious: 24-10 NY JETS!!!!! Bialal Powell was injured vs. Buffalo genius. And Ivory was as well. That's why we lost. Take away any team's top backs and it will severely affect their offense. Our running game will be fine. Preseason is hardly an accurate indication of how we will run the ball. Clady is an upgrade over Dbrick. Giacomo sucks and replaced by a reserve so it's a wash. IMO the OL is better than last year. The running game will just be different. Powell will be our cow bell back. He is entering his prime. He is a quick, slashing runner. Forte will give opposing defenses fits out the backfield. Gailey will be more creative this season. This is 2016 not 2015. It's a different offense with an influx of better personnel. Enuwa is emerging, Forte looks like he has lots left in his tank, the new kids at WR are fast and offer a different dimension to the offense. Fitz comes in as the clear leader of the team and has more toys to play with. This offense is going to rock. Jets 34 Bangles

Brandon LaFell is a JOKE and I have the utmost confidence in Skrine or EVEN Juston Burris covering him. Then you have 2 rookies in Tyler Boyd and Cody Core as their #3 and #4. Considering we now have FAST LBs that can cover better and safties that can tackle settled in their 2nd year in the system, HOW is their WR corp a unit in that we don't match up well against? If JUST our Dline can apply consistent pass rush, Revis can hold down Green, and the Run defense contains Hill & Bernard. The Jets defense SHOULD handle the Cincy offense if they force Dalton to carry the team - which he won't. The REAL caveat is if OUR OFFENSE can outscore their stout defense considering we REALLY have NO IDEA how our Run game will play to keep the heat off Fitzy from having to carry the team - which we also know he can't - and keeping Cincy defense honest from a blitzkrieg that may force #14 into turnovers. Well, Revis is currently getting taken to school by Green right now
