Never Seen Before ...

That was great. I've only seen Bowles in press conferences and sideline interviews and he always came across as very boring. Nice to see he's charismatic and loose with a good sense of humor with the guys. Stern when he needs to be, but calm and commanding respect.

Most of Parcells players hated him, same with Mike Keenan (NYR).    id rather win than have a nice guy coach. We had that in REX and where did it get us?

So now we're comparing Bowles to Rex because they're both nice guys? Pete Carroll is a pretty nice guy. How's he doing? What about Bruce Arians? Ron Rivera?

I'd rather have someone with Bowles' cool demeanor than a militant a$$hole any day. There are many different styles to get the most out of your players, and frankly, I think if players like and respect their coach, they'll perform best. What a novel concept.

Im simply stating that being a nice guy means "dick" in this business.    Pete Carroll had a terrible 1st few years as did Ron Rivera.  They absolutely developed over time as we both hope Bowles does.   To your point on militant, Id agree if all else was equal.

There are OLINE man who were coached under Parcells who won a SB who couldn't shine the jock of Faneca, Brick or even Mawae.   Long term, they'd rather have had a militant ahole and a ring, IMO.

I agree that nice guy means nothing if you can't win. That said, Bowles had a very solid first year, and ran a locker room that responded to him very well. I like the guy and I hope he continues to improve.

Two back to back afc championship games? Im not going to complain about Rex being gone but when the team had talent it did well unfortunately for Rex we lost a lot of talent because we had some cap issues then Idzik came in and fixed the cap at the cost of the rest of the team.

I am sure the Jets players know who is boss. You don't have to be a screamer to get your point across. Frankly, I would rather have a steady hand at the wheel than a guy who is going to hold a grudge or make things personal with players. You can't be their buddy, but you can be player friendly.

The Eagles had 4 NFC Championships... who cares.

There's a difference between being a nice guy, and being relatable to your players - as Bowles appears in the video... and wanting to be accepted by the players so badly, that you let them walk all over you. That's where you forfeit respect, or mistake affection for respect. That is ultimately the problem Rex has. He cannot stand to have anyone not like him, so he can't be the bad guy.

Agreed.  I like the way Bowles makes comments about players like  "Ive never seen Milner healthy"  or " Im done talking about Fitz".  My team is here etc.

Bowles had a calm and steady demeanor... I like the video, he looks like he is having fun at his job which is also good. I am not confusing his lightheartedness in th video for weakness. I taking it as a video of am man enjoying his work.
