How good is Andy Dalton?

My goodness. That ginger can play! How perfect did he drop that ball into Green on the TD? He was throwing darts to the outside on those screens, Green had to lay out a couple of times but that throw on the left sideline to Green with Revis draped all over him was a thing of beauty!

I remember when they paid him I said what? Guy is legit & him getting hurt last year cursed their season. Just look at his record over the last few years. Fitz really looked like the journeyman he is yesterday playing against Dalton. Could you imagine the score had Fitz been under that duress? God, Macc, please find us a QB.

Dalton is not very good. You're just blinded by the 4 headed sh*t monster the Jets have.

That's BS. He's developed into a very good QB. He took advantage of every Jet miscue in the secondary with pin point accuracy. What were you watching? And he was doing it while enduring 7 sacks & he never got rattled. Give credit where its due man.

It's not just dalton, the whole bengals roster is loaded from several years of good drafting. The jets by comparison have drafted a ton of duds and have a lot of catching up to do

The Jets lost by 1 point in the last minute of the game, a game they should have won. There is not that much difference between the 2 teams although Dalton>>>>>Fitz.

Bengals were without both Burfict and eifert who were both big for them last year... overall they have much better depth then the jets at every position with the exception of DL and WR2. much younger too with their best players still squarely in their prime. at full strength they have arguably the most balanced roster in the AFC

They are good, no doubt, and have a much underrated QB but the Jets could have and should have won that game. Jets were without Sheldon Richardson too. The facts are they lost by 1 point, missed an extra point and had a FG blocked. I maintain there is not much different between the 2 teams.

Dalton is extremely accurate. That is critical to his overall game. He kept his cool yesterday. Mo Wilky crushed him. He still got up and played like it never happened. Tough. Smart and Cool in the pocket. What the NY Jets need in a QB

The Jets defense was crushing yesterday and Dalton kept his cool and executed executed and executed.

Fitz wasn't under half the pressure Dalton was in that game.

So, like Romo, he's been consistently one of the game's 2nd tier QB's, in the process overcoming awful ownership and coaches who have been tenured forever despite no playoff success?  Got it.

And like Romo at times, makes god awful decisions which cost his team dearly.

At times, yes.  But Romo also has 25 career 4th quarter comebacks.  That puts him 14th on the all-time list among QB's.

For comparison purposes, Joe Montana had 31, Fran Tarkenton and Brett Favre 30, Big Ben, Eli and Johnny Unitas 27, Drew Brees and Warren Moon 26, Dan Fouts 24, Jim Kelly 22, Randall Cunningham 21, Ken Stabler and Bart Starr 19, Joe Namath 16, Roger Staubach 15.

Sure, if that's the simple world we all want to live in.  Mark Sanchez is 4-2 in the playoffs in his career.  Where does he stand among QB's?

Romo is by no means elite, and nor is Dalton.  But QB's aren't just elite or terrible.  There's a middle ground of pretty good/solid QB's.  Guys like Romo and Dalton exist in that zone.  And we'd love to have one like that, because you can build around those types.  It's undeniable.

Listen - he can't stay on the field and when there's a game the 'boys have to win, he craps the bed.  He's a sunshine warrior.

Again, it's an oversimplification we use to make us feel better about the fact that we don't have a guy capable of being called a franchise QB, and really haven't since 1998 and maybe parts of 2002 and 2008.  The Cowboys have had a lot of problems over the years, but their biggest problem has not been Romo.  Not even close.  If we had a QB like him at any point in the last 2 decades we'd be pleased with that kind of productivity.

The two raps on Dalton is that his arm is not particularly strong and he craps up in money games.  As he matures, his less-than-cannon arm is being compensated by consistent accuracy and all he has to do is win a few playoff games to get rid of the second whammy.  Couple that with the fact that he's got some fast, good receivers who will go get the ball on the close ones and it equals dangerous.
