August
I knew we'd lose it just sucks that statically Fitzpatrick played "well" despite him dinking and dunking all day, while leading a stagnant offense, so this game will buy him more time. So annoying.

Barkus
Fitz sucks but he won't be benched until jets are eliminated from playoffs, even then I'm not sure he will benched.
FidelioJet
There's no way he's being benched until at least the 7th loss. This entire team is a mess right now...Benching the QB is unlikely to help anyway. Once they're out of it you can go with a youth movement and let Petty/Hack play. It'll be fine had Fitzpatrick's "played well" performance led to a win. But it didn't. Not only did we lose but Fitzpatrick did enough to keep his job because of decent looking stats, even though the offense was stagnant most of the game. If we're going to lose I want him to look terrible so we can expedite his benching. Not lose while he puts up decent stats so a clueless coach can justify still starting him. Very annoying. A stark contrast to a year ago. "If the team is winning and the quarterback is playing well there will be no changes". Fair enough because the team was winning and he was playing relatively well. However this year he's still justifying keeping him in because of "chemistry". How are you going to allow Ryan Fitzpatrick of all people to be the one of the reasons you lose your job. If he keeps it up he's going to get fired. Loyalty to your vets is a good thing but he's going to lose his team, if he already hasn't, with this blind devotion to the worst QB in the league. I may be wrong. But usually Mac defers to Bowles when it comes to playing time etc. Bowles is giving Fitzpatrick a long rope because he's his guy and he's grown extremely attached and comfortable with Fitzpatrick. Could they be waiting on Petty? Sure, you can't dismiss that theory. But then it leads me to this question. Why is Geno here? They should've just cut him and rolled with Petty as the backup. It makes no logical sense (based on the theory) to keep him if you don't ever intend to play him and then skip over him for the 3rd stringer if the season got lost. RutgersJetFan
1-4 is a death sentence. The Jets have an opportunity here and like clockwork, as they always do, are blowing it. You have to play Petty and Hackenberg to see who is worth keeping around next year. There is no downside to this. You either determine you have a quarterback for the future or you wind up with a top 3 draft pick. This is where this franchise has gone wrong for decades. Chasing mediocrity, not knowing when to throw the towel in for the greater good. Can't wait to see where 2-3 extra W's lands us. Maybe yet another first round cornerback. Because it's not like we've drafted nothing but corners and DL for the past ten years. Yay.

Yay. for the first time this regime isn't chasing mediocrity, they're just using fitz until the season is lost. the one thing they can't do is not use fitz who had 31 tds last year. they have to use him until they're out of contention. the vets would mutiny and that would be trouble. as it is now, the vets are screwing up enough that they can only blame themselves.
