It could be worse....

We could be the Jaguars and have a coach who is still employed despite having the 2nd worst win percentage of any coach with more than 50 games since World War II. Bert Bell was the worst and he only kept his job as HC for so long because he also owned the damn team. He eventually came to his senses and replaced himself.

This loser is 14-41. And yet some down here still defend this idiot. It's like they have Stockholm Syndrome.

Blake Bortles has only thrown 147 passes in his career with a lead. He's thrown 1015 while trailing. Ouch.

Plus, they have the worst looking uniforms in history.

The similarities of the Jags to the Jets are pretty amazing actually.  Terrible drafting teams, who compound mistakes with more mistakes.

I was watching that game going; man, the Jags fired Mulakery after 1 season while coaching the worst roster in the entire NFL and is now building a very talented well coached team in Tenn.  And then the week before, they were blown out by Jack Del Rio who is doing the exact same thing. So in back to back games, they've lost to their former Head Coaches.  The only the other coach they've had and fired, went on to win 2 Super Bowls in Tom Coughlin.

It's soooo Jets like its not even funny.

Coaching matters, obviously.

But if a coach is given no talent, he won't succeed.  Ever.   A decent coach will look amazing with great talent.   Brian Billick was an offensive genius in Minn.   The fact he had Randall Cunningham throwing to Moss and Carter, with Robert Smith didn't hurt.   Mike Martz was a genius with the Greatest Show on Turf.  OK, he also had (to me) a HOF QB, throwing to a (HOF to me) WR in Torry Holt, a Pro Bowl WR in Isaac Bruce, a HOF left tackle with Orlando Pace, and a HOF and all time running back with Marshall Faulk.

Plus, that roster is pretty loaded now. So, it's happening in spite of some fairly good drafting.

And how exactly do you know that?

NostraBeerfish, I can see things.  My totally scientific evaluation of what Hackenburg looks like, throws like and appears to be like.  Except he is about 5 miles away from where bortles was hen he started in the league.

Oh I get it.  I'm just saying, they fired Mularkey when he had no talent...kind of like the Jets did with Rex.  They fired Coughlin for no reason.  Del Rio had a terrible GM. so and so. Bad drafting too.  Over priced FA's.  Underachieving now.  Lots of similarities.

Fairly good is the key word.  They've had some questionable picks.

Bortles was a questionable pick the shot up the draft boards due to some predraft hype.  They passed on Kahlil Mack, Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Jake Matthews, Taylor Lewan...all positions of need.

Fowler over Williams was stupid. Yeldon in the 2nd stupid. AJ Cann is terrible and they passed on good talent.

This draft is yet to be determined but taking Jalen Ramsey that high seemed silly.  They're the worst team in the league from a turnover perspective and they took a corner who had 1 INT his entire college career.

It's been bad and some have the FA's.  Malik Jackson and that contract?  Wow.

What he looks like? He looks like a stud NFL caliber QB. Did you watch Bortles last night? Bortles is awful, beyond awful, but that again could be attributed to poor coaching. Quite honestly, they looked like the Jacksonville Jets last night, totally unprepared to play, totally not giving a crap, no desire to win or compete, and getting blown to bits in the first half. They made Mariotta look like Dan Marino where Mariotta is really not that good yet. The Jags are awful period. They too have a lot of high draft talent and piss poor coaching IMO.

You may very well be right about Hack. I still maintain that nobody here knows for sure if he will be able to play in the NFL until he does so, and not this season. While I do want to see him play this year, we will get a better judgement after a season on the sidelines, a season of OTA's and TC next Summer. Then let him play and if he sucks, he sucks and I give kudos to everyone who felt that way, but until then, I think you and everyone else who arbitrarily say he cannot play, are jumping to conclusions..

I've seen him play in college for 4 years.  And I invite you to go look at some clips on the interwebz.  I never liked the pick.

And that's why a lot, and I do mean a lot of people fear the worst.  Which is he's a wasted 2nd rounder.

I am not doubting that, I have seen him get his brains bashed in, sack after sack, but he did have a great first year and with the proper coaching (which we sadly do not have at the moment) he could turn out to be great, you just never know. You cannot base his pro career on what he did in a bad College system. Gruden hosts a QB show, I forgot the name of it, but he had Hack on one episode and I am telling you, the kid has a lot of NFL potential as long as he is coached up correctly.

I'm not sure how you watched him for 4 years in college when he only played 3.

Hackenberg had a career 56% completion percentage in college. Accuracy has destroyed more QBs than any other trend in the recent years.

At this point none of that matters.  What only matters is what he can develop into as a pro.  The tools are there; the desire and work ethic is there, now we just have to wait and and happens.
