And yet he tried to trade p to acquire the OT  Laremy  Tunsil in the 1st round last year . Don't you think draft philosophy is subject to player quality and availability .

I will be angry forever that the Jets won a couple of meaningless games to end 2014, and that Macc didn't trade up to get Mariota.  Whatever the cost.  That was exceptional quality and availability...twice.

There's no way we could have match any offer the Titans made .  The man is trying , so give him the benefit of the doubt .

The Titans didn't trade up.  They were slotted at #2 because of the Jets' meaningless wins.  And they got lucky a 2nd time because the Bucs took the wrong guy.

Mangold is no longer Mangold level . He can't get to the 2nd level anymore, and he's not as strong at the point of attack against the bigger NTs anymore either . I would go so far as to say that Nick Mangold is getting by solely on his ability to assist the QB with setting line protections . He's mentally strong still but his physical ability is fading  .

He has faded into Mang-OLD.  He's been slipping the last couple of seasons and his cap hit is over $9 million next year.  No dead cap money next year.

Winters does seem to have finally stepped it up this year, but regarding any supposed rush to judgment, it shouldn't take a 3rd round pick at guard 4 years to become solid.  Ultimately, fans have been rightfully disappointed to see that he was drafted to replace a 6th rounder (Slauson) and had been a massive downgrade for the first 3 years.  Now granted, the blame for that situation goes on the team just as much, if not more, than Winters himself, but the displeasure with it is certainly justifiable.  If the price is right then he's certainly worth looking to extend this offseason, but he still hasn't earned any serious money.

He stank as a rookie (2013), but LG was not his position.  He also tore his ACL in early 2014 and wasn't fully recovered until this year.

There was no dead money this year either but guess they did not ask after Brick retired and Mangold is still playing above average
