joewilly12
I thought PSL's were supposed to clean up the crowd. More fans are arrested at Jets and Giants games than almost any other stadium in the NFL Tweet email More arrests are made each week at MetLife Stadium than at all but one other NFL stadium. (JAMIE SQUIRE/GETTY IMAGES) Police at MetLife Stadium are among the busiest in the NFL, cuffing nearly 22 fans a weekend according to data collected by the Washington Post. In an in-depth look at violence among fans at NFL stadiums, the Post found that, on average, 21.96 arrests are made over the 17 weeks of the season at the Meadowlands; 22.5 at Giants games and 21.5 at Jets games. The data was collected from local law enforcement and covers the 2011-2015 seasons. San Diego has the distinction of being the city with the most arrests per game at 24.58 while the fewest arrests are made in Seattle, Chicago and Tampa Bay (0.8). Many of the factors that one would expect to lead to arrests were proven right by the Post’s data; there are more arrests during divisional games, and even more events during divisional games that kick off after 4 p.m. There are certain fan bases — like the Radiers’ — that often bring violence into the cities they visit. Interestingly, the Post’s reporting found that despite the high number of arrests, New York often received high remarks, according to Jeff Miller, the NFL’s former head of security, for how it handled security. A lot of that can be chalked up to zero-tolerance policies put in place by many franchises, including San Diego and New York. SEE IT: Chicago Bears fan sucker punches Jaguars supporter Still, Miller told the Post that he was shocked at the level of violence he witnessed when he went to his first Monday night game in Kansas City as the NFL’s security chief in 2008. “I’ve been in actual prison riots,” said Miller, who was a police commissioner in Pennsylvania before joining the NFL. “I looked around me, and I saw so many people getting tased by police right outside the venue, it was unbelievable. Raiders fans have a reputation for violence in Oakland and in the other NFL cities they visit. (THEARON W. His fears were backed up when Kyle Van Winkle was found dead after he was assaulted in an Arrowhead Stadium parking lot three years ago. Fan beat up at Baltimore Ravens game by 2 N.Y. men is recovering The Post’s reporting essentially confirmed what anyone who’s been to an NFL game already knows; tensions run highest at divisional games, and alcohol is fuel for the fans’ fire. The Post received data from 29 of the 31 cities where the NFL plays (the Jets and Giants both play in East Rutherford) though some cities only provided partial data and Cleveland and New Orleans didn’t provide any data at all. Jackie Treehorn
I don't know to what extent the article gives a true picture of the problem since I have only been to one Jets game, the Bengals home opener. The atmosphere after the game was a bit more hostile then I thought it would be with quite a lot of stuff shouted at Bengal supporters and some supporter trying to instigate a fight. However I believe that was with another Jet fan. The question is if I had the wrong idea about American fans going into the game or if it was the bitter disappointment of the outcome of game that brought on the hostilities. The latter would be understandable . On another note, where I am used to watch sports it sometimes goes down like this outside the stadium:

And most of them don't have a clue what the f-ck is going on during the game . All they want to do is take pictures of themselves with those goddam cell phone cameras . cptcpres
Being a PSL holder, that has not missed a game since '09, a lot of the fights come from the stadium staff allowing people from the third level to field level. Typically they are drunk and obnoxious. It doesn't even seem to matter if they are jet fans or for the opposing team. Last week I had a jet fan from the third level start with me when he decided to sit in front of me and my family because I asked him to sit down as he was the only on standing in our section and I want to watch the game. It almost came to blows when an usher finally asked to see his ticket and escorted him out of the section. All this said if the team were putting better product in the field there would be less issues.Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app

Stadium security sucks and it starts in the parking lot they allow tailgaters to take up more than 1 spot they allow people to carry in other drunk fans who cant walk they ignore what goes on once the game starts. The beer vendors are just as guilty serving highly intoxicated individuals all game long. There is no control of anything at MetLife when people ask me if I miss it I certainly do miss the good times but not the bad.

You have money invested in all this as do others protect your investment. When the Jets were 3-13 and 1-15 under Rich Kotite I was living on the upper west side of Manhattan and could not get season tickets because I was frozen out by people like you who wouldn't give them up and sold them for a small fortune to brokers. I would have gone to every game those years but I could only get tickets at the stadium, and about 20% of the time I would go to the parking lot before a game the scalpers would run out of tickets and I'd have to take the bus back to Port Authority in shame and miss the entire first half for my trouble. In case you haven't noticed, the world is about money and that should have always included live NFL games. There was no reason I should have been blocked from getting great seats because I was born a decade too late, no reason why if I was willing to pay a premium for tickets the Jets wouldn't sell them to me. The old season ticket system was barbaric to up-and-coming fans, we're the ones who were on the waiting list for 12+ years, we're the ones who are completely forgotten in the PSL conversation. To you, an old timer who had $10 seats at Shea, Leon Hess was Santa Claus giving you a tremendous break. To us, the next-gen who were waitlisted to oblivion, the PSL was a Godsend, the best thing the Jets ever did for us. You had it great for 30 years but your party is over now. Stop being so selfish to the rest of us. We paid dues far harder than you're paying now. We could only get to games on your backs for huge prices in an era without the internet, we were locked out of the stadium. You can get to games on our backs for cheap prices on Stubhub, it's an open door of fan parity on the aftermarket. Stop your whining, shut up, and show up. You have no excuse.
