Speaking of Jets Fans. Francesa is DESTROYING Jets fans for complaining about yesterday's win.

Says that in order to get a franchise QB, you either have to get lucky or develop one.

  1. You really stink, have a high draft pick, and draft correctly.  Maybe that is the lucky one.
  2. You can draft lower (starting in the middle of the first round) and develop one.  That has had mixed results.
  3. There are a few QBs drafted lower than the 1st round that were developed (or are developing).
  4. You can have tremendous you know whats and trade up for a QB that you think will be your franchise QB.  That usually costs a massive amount of compensation.  If you get it right, it shows how important a QB is, because like the Giants you can win a SB afterwards even without those draft picks.  If you pick wrong, your franchise takes years to recover.
  5. You can resurrect a prior franchise QB (like Carson Palmer).

The Jets are going with option 3, which has worked (New Orleans, Dallas, Seattle, 49er, Raiders, NEP, others I would think), but not was often as the others.

Well 2 and 3 are basically the same just in different rounds. Develop a QB

1 is the lucky one because you need to have the high draft pick in the right year. Colts have done it twice, yet only 1 Super Bowl title to show for it between Manning and Luck.

4 is like 1 except it costs a ton, so there is more risk.

5 , the Cardinals have done twice with Warner and Palmer. The Saints kind of did it with Brees.
