The Chicago White Sox have agreed to trade center fielder Adam Eaton to the Washington Nationals, a source told ESPN's Jim Bowden, confirming multiple reports.

According to CSN Chicago, the Nationals will send right-hander Lucas Giolito -- the top prospect in their system -- plus right-handers Dane Dunning and Reynaldo Lopez to the White Sox.

There was no immediate word about whether other players were involved in the deal, which is pending physicals.

The Nationals had offered Giolito (among other players) to the White Sox for Chris Sale before Chicago decided to trade the ace left-hander to the Red Sox.

Eaton, 28, batted .284 with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs in 2016. He led the American League with nine triples, the second time he has led the league in that category (10, in 2014).

The Nationals had also talked to the Pittsburgh Pirates about center fielder Andrew McCutchen before reportedly deciding to acquire Eaton instead.
