Question?

What has Mike Maccagnan actually FIXED in his 2 years here?

We still need a QB the QB he drafted in the 2nd round never even dressed. Bryce Petty is he our future?

RB we have old and slow RB's

LB position is very weak

The secondary is a mess

OL many holes

Besides the WR position everyone raves about all we have a lot of unproven depth.

We dont have a kick returner or punt returner.

They nearly made a trade with Philadelphia, who didn't have as much to offer. A team doesn't get into serious discussions like that if they're not considering a bonanza pkg.

I don't think you're nuts for thinking so about Hackenberg. He's just so far from where we'll need him to be & that he's given little to no promise/reason for such optimism at this point. A rookie season is not a career, of course, but he seems a far worse pick today than even the day so many screamed "Reach!" (if not outright laughing) about taking him in round 2.

If you are right, I won't give a crap where he was drafted.

Nah.  Mariota was their guy.  A team would have had to have thrown something crazy at the Titans for them to have even considered moving back.

I know it's joewilly12, but he's right on here. Maccagnan inherited a team with a woeful QB situation, a shaky offensive line, mediocre linebackers, and a horrific secondary, and two years later, things look exactly the same.

I was listening to Francesca talking about the Giants yesterday and he was lauding upon Big Snacks as a wonderful player and a key reason for the Giants turnaround on defense. He said his stopping of the run enabled other players to concentrate more on rushing the passer, etc. He also said that he thought that Bowles felt last season that Snacks was the Jets best player on defense. And his loss is a key part of the defense's decline. Anyways, why didn't we re-sign him. I know for money (and they did sign a good player to replace him for a lot less cash). But this is one among many reasons the Jets aren't that good this season. IMO Mac hasn't done a good job in two years but doesn't deserve to be fired. There's a list of questionable decisions.

He was trolling jets fans. The jets run defense is terrific. Snacks comes out of the game on 3rd down and isn't worth the money.

Nor should he.  Every person in football knows he would be a reclamation project.  But how do you go from one of the most highly touted QB's in high school, to talk of him being a first-overall pick after one year of college, to being, at best, a car salesman now that he has been drafted?  He is worth the time.  The kid works hard, loves football, has a cannon arm, is coachable, and wants to succeed.  If you can turn him into Trent Dilfer at best he could succeed with a good supporting cast.

Jake Heaps was the number 1 high school QB in the country.  Damn these impatient fans and media!

Do you guys honestly think this was going to be fixed in a year?  How much Kool-Aid was drank by that Gd-awful fluke season last year?

If this team went 1-15 last year (like they should have), is this year  better?

What has he done....well, lets see.  He revamped the LB core.  Not fully there yet, but Lee, Jenkins, and Mauldin are light years better than Coples, Pace, Harris and Davis.  We draft a guy like Peppers or Foster, this is going to be one GREAT LB core.

In 2014, we started Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley, and T.J. Graham as our starting WR.  In two years, we now have Decker, Brandon Marshall, the emergence of Quincy Enunwa, and have Robbie Anderson and Charone Peake who have shown some flashes in their FIRST REPEAT FIRST season.  Devin Smith is still out.  If Smith works out, he will have taken one of the worst WR cores in Football this decade and made them into a top 10.

He has had two drafts and drafted two quarterbacks.  We have to see what happens with that.

We now have at least one TE option to throw at thanks to Mac picking up ASJ for NOTHING

We have two developmental players on the OL with Shell and Harrison.  We have to see how that plays out.

We have a potential #2 corner in Burris....he has to develop

We have one of the best young DE in Williams.

People SCREAMED they wanted Mo signed long-term....he got that done.

He also kept the team competitive for most of 2 years by signing veterans whose contracts are now about to expire over the next two years, just as all the developmental players should be panning out, with no cap ramifications.

This is actually HOW you do a rebuild.  Text book.  I know.....I am a Toronto Maple Leaf fan in hockey.  It was PAINFUL watching the Leafs play the past three seasons.  Now, the Leafs are fielding one of the most exciting young teams to watch, and have a farm system full of prospects that every team is drooling over.

If you want quick fix, lets fire everyone again and get two more first timers in here and have them sign Cutler next year, and a bunch more high-priced vets.  Should work great!

Fixed,NO improved YES

QB position is still in question Petty showing hope but we beat a 1-11 team.

OL Clady old Breno old and not that good. A lot of holes to fill.

LB group is still weak no game changers.

The secondary is a mess. Burris shows a lot of promise.

Competitive?  The Jets are 4-9 far from competitive.

Mariota was Kelly's guy. Tennessee liked him but they also still liked Mettenberger enough that, unlike Tampa (who themselves had Glennon) they were entertaining serious trade talks for the pick. He was no sure thing, don't forget. Further, at the time the talk was that he would only start right away if Chip Kelly drafted him, but for everyone else he'd be holding a clipboard for at least his rookie year.

Look at what it cost for teams like L.A. to move up from #15 or so to #1. Think what we'd have lost if we even had to give up a pair of #1s (one of them the #6 overall pick) and a pair of #2s. "Chart" wise it's way more than they were entitled to. Other than the #6 pick for Williams, we'd have lost out on 3 players we could very much do without: Devin Smith, Darron Lee, and Christian Hackenberg. Then we'd also get back the 2015 4th and 7th rounders used to draft Bryce Petty. That's if it would have even cost us that much to move up 4 slots (1000 "points").

I am not disagreeing with you; but this was a 4-5 year rebuild given the void of talent on this roster two years ago.  You can't fix that in two drafts.  You also have to stay competitive so you don't have to overspend on FA's.  Things are fine.  Lets see what happens next year.  This team could take a major step forward next year with good use of FA dollars and another solid of not spectacular draft.
