Yes it was all BB b/c he had been so successful developing QBs and great offenses w/o Brady.  they played a bunch of crappy teams and did so w/ a highly rated prospect the first couple of games then beat a bad at the time Miami game w/ that rookie QB.  what does this have to do w/ his record pre-Brady which was AWFUL?

That was 800 years ago. His record without Brady this year was pretty good. This is the strangest point ever. And believe me, I am the biggest Belichick hater on the planet lol.

Some lucky ass team is going to get themselves an amazing mastermind D.C.! As long as they have 3 stud DL, 4 amazing CB's, and 4 awesome LBers, they should be top 5 in defense every year.

CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS EVERYWHEREERE CHRISTMAS TIME IS HEEEEEEEERE.

I don't have any tremendous negative feelings towards Rex and actually wished him well when he left but some of the posters out here who continued to say "if only Rex were here..." owe everyone a big

Which SB did they play in? I must have missed those games.

contenders not SB teams

The Jets record on the field is much worse than the record of this fanbase when it comes to supporting the team. Totally agree.

I disagree, I think if we had a record our fanbase would be 4-12.  there are 16-0 fans mixed in but we have too many terrible fans that give up at the first sign of trouble and just go to games to get drunk and boo.

I don't hate Belichick, I admire what he has done but the facts are w/o Brady his record isn't good.  Brady rescued his HC career.

If Rex had Russell wilson he would have turned him in the 2nd on the depth chart and been a wildcat specialist. He never would have learned how to become a qb and would have been out of the league already.

Agreed. If REX was the HC at Baltimore..Flacco would be out of the league by now.

Baltimore KNEW REX was a jag off, they passed. Ozzie Newsome is a very good GM.

He would never hire Rex and be skewed by the REX "would be" "If only" etc.  He saw REX 1st hand.

He knows REX is not management material for a contending team needing to develop players.

If there is any chance of Harbaugh leaving Michigan, the Jets should be picking up the phone to hire him.  So if the Rams are a possibility, why shouldn't the Jets be a possibility?

I thought that would be something meaningful for Jets fans to discuss.

Turns out I was wrong, and we should rehash Rex again.

That's the final straw, you are officially uninvited to Max's Jetnation Pleasure Palace on Wheels tailgate.

Actually kind of sounds like the way Bowles is handling his   young  QB's.

If I remember correctly Rex threw a very green Sanchez out there with only 16 NCAA starts

Im not saying Rex wouldnt have started Russell cause of his age, but because of his man crush on dirty sanchez

How many games a year do you go to?

Now? not many, in the past every single one.  I have young kids playing sports on weekends and that is my priority but I was at every game in the 90s and 00s, I was there when we were great in '98, I was there when we were 1-15 in '96.  the crowds were obviously better in '98 but our crowds are nothing like real crowds around the league.  at that NE playoff game the fans didn't sit for ONE play that game, the ONLY time Jet fans get up is if it's 3rd or 4th and short and we need some goofball to lead a chant to get loud.

I was at games when Jet fans were outnumbered by opponents, heck a few years ago when we were 2-2 and still alive our stadium was overtaken by 49ers fans.  we don't have a great fanbase, we have some great fans and many are on here but we don't have a great fanbase.

I don't mean any disrespect, but it sounds like you really aren't in a position to judge this fan base. Since you aren't going to the games. Really don't mean that to be rude, just sounds like you might be out of touch. It happens.

Harbaugh may be the best Hc in the game but w/ rex they would have made multiple SBs.  Baltimore had a lot more talent than us in 2009 and 2010 and yet we were in the title games not them.  Baltimore kept putting pieces around Flacco which we did the opposite w/ our QB.  the difference in Baltimore was they have Ozzie and we don't and we fired our successful GM.

Maybe but I go to enough games a year I just don't go to all 8 every year like I used to.  I probably average about 4,  I have been to many road games and we have by far the worst home crowd, the worst atmosphere outside of maybe the Giants.  Maybe it's a NY area thing?

A question:  When discussing the "Fanbase" does that only include people who go to the games every week?

I ask because when I use the word "fanbase" I never, ever, mean just the every-game-goers.

And if we are discussing the tiny minority of in-stadium fans, is it unfair to make observations based upon TV coverage of our home games, empty seats, quiet crowds, numbers of opposing jerseys, etc?

More curious than anything, as I've noticed over the years a definitive "if you don't go to the games, you're not a fan, and you don't get to comment on what happens in the stadium" vibe from many many folks.

Not accusing you of that Max, more just curious how folks see this issue.

Nyjunc, you are probably a really nice guy who has a lot of passion, but you have a nasty habit of throwing out hypothetical situations and purporting them as fact. You try and twist history to support your claims, which is not something one should do. You don't know how things may have turned out if they were different, nor do I.

You have opinions, which are of course fine. Please stop trying to shape opinion based on hypothetical situations they carry no claim. It is a tiring argument.

Saying that Rex would have made multiple SB's if only he was in "x" situation is just plain dumb.

he nearly made 2 SBs w/ us, Baltimore was much more talented than we were,  it may be an assumption but I think rex did  a better job w/ us early than Harbaugh did w/ baltimore.  I think Harbaugh is a great coach and better than rex but those furst few years rex did a better job.  When Rex has had talent to work with he's done a good job, even when he hasn't his teams have overachieved all but 2-3 seasons.

It does not work that way. You have no idea how things may have turned out. It is not that simple.

ok so rex sucks, worst coach in the league, tannebaum sucked, schottenheimer sucked, sanchez sucked.  so w/ all this suckage how did we make back to back title games for the only time in our history? how did we walk into Gillette and beat the greatest coach of all time and greatest QB of all time on the same field we lost 45-3 a month earlier and beat up the Pats?

Why do you twist and construe things that are not there? Rex did not suck. He is mediocre and his value degrades to an organization the longer that he is there.

My point to you is to not make claims that you have no basis to back. It is faulty logic.

Wait??

We beat Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr?

Or Noll and Bradshaw?

Or the Niners and Montana

Oh I got it. We beat a filthy cheating HC who stole a million from a dying old man and an equally filthy cheating QB who knew every single defensive playcall before the snap.

But we understand junc.

Your unabashed adoration for the New England Cheaters is possibly unmatched by any other poster here at JN

Guess you never heard the expression on any given sunday, or just dont understand what it means.

BTW, when someone says your hypothetical scenario doesnt mean much because you just cant say things like Rex would have won when we dont know that he would have, being a baby and saying ok, he sucks then, worst ever, doesnt make your case.  Theres a whole lot of room between what you think Rex is and being the worst in the league.

we went for it, had a high cap # and came close.  we then had to retool, in the middle of that we fired the GM who built the title game teams and through it all his teams overachieved all but 2 years here.

we lost but I wonder what you guys were thinking at the time?  after NE you guys were happy but said we better beat Pitt or this means nothing? from fans of a franchise w/ limited success it is baffling how we bash the few who have had any success.

so it was any give sunday at NE, where are all the other "any given Sunday's" in our history?  why is he the only one w/ multiple SB chances? must have been just luck.

I think rex is a good coach, I know Rex is a good coach.  the general feeling on here is he sucks.  it's embarrassing the way we tear down players/coaches/GMs that have had success here.  I said it last year when everyone was going crazy over Bowles.  I said in 2-3 years he'll be bashed by Jet fans and the next coach will be treated as a god until 2-3 years after that and the cycle goes on and on and on and on.
