joewilly12
Jets, Giants will have neutral end zones this weekend at MetLife Stadium THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Wednesday, December 14, 2016, 10:31 PM Tweet email Workers at MetLife Stadium won't have enough time to change the end zones between games this weekend. (LI-AERIALS/GETTY IMAGES) EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — With the New York Jets playing a Saturday night game and the Giants kicking off early Sunday afternoon, MetLife Stadium will go with an interesting look for the first time: neutral end zones. No team names. Although the Meadowlands facility has had quick turnarounds on events before, this one is specifically challenging. “We are always prepared to host two consecutive football games, whether college or NFL,” said Ron VanDeVeen, president and CEO of MetLife Stadium. “However, due to the timing of Saturday’s 8:25 p.m. New York Jets game followed by Sunday’s 1 p.m. New York Giants game, coupled with the current weather forecast, the decision was made to use neutral end zones for this weekend’s contests. This decision will allow for appropriate maintenance of the playing surface throughout the weekend.” The Jets and Giants are the only NFL franchises sharing a stadium, which they combined to finance. At the conclusion of the Jets game with Miami on Saturday night, MetLife Stadium will undergo the standard changeover, aside from the end zones. That includes team signage both inside and outside the stadium, and exterior lighting. The process will be completed in less than 10 hours. The neutral end zones will consist of nine vertical slash marks throughout the length of the end zone. The two teams were home only once previously this season on the same weekend. In Week 10, the Jets hosted the Rams on Sunday afternoon and the Giants played the Bengals on Monday night.

Ohio State NY Jets fan
Green and Blue Stripes? not like we have a home field advantage at this point in a crappy season anyway, both teams should not have to suffer, create a tie breaker, man up and pick one; use the Giants logo since they have the better record or use Jets logo on Saturday night since they play first - that would settle it and set the precedent for future scheduling conflicts - the Jets played in Giants stadium for years so what's the difference Of all the losses over the years, the loss of the Westside Stadium was the worst, FU Sheldon Silver (who earned a well deserved 12-Year Prison Sentence) and Woody, who should have caved, 300 million would have been nothing over 20 years for the billionaire and the Jets could have been NY's team

20andOut
Fiasco? Really? Is not having a logo in the end zone for one game really worth getting upset about? It's going to be 40 degrees and pouring rain and I guess maybe 10k people will be in stands to see those striped end zones. And those complaining about the 1.5 Billion dollar stadium should take a look at the proposals for a new Port Authority bus terminal. Estimates run between 4 and 15 billion of taxpayer money for a F--G BUS GARAGE!

Mike135
Just do Giant colors. Saturday is Jets vs Fish. Barring blimp camera shots, it's possible to never show the end zones at all. For FGs and kickoffs, only show the field level angles.

Adoni Beast
This has been my biggest issue with Woody Johnson. I haven't really hated him like some do, I think he means well, wants to win, and has spent money when he had to. But when he had a chance to get the Westside Stadium, he dropped the ball. He had a chance to really pull out from the Giants' shadow, give us a state of the art stadium on the NYC skyline, etc etc. He could have really given this team a feel of its own identity and blew it. Wrong! The West Side Stadium was killed by corrupt politicians, namely Sheldon Silver whom the Dolans (MSG) bought off to kill any competition. For me, since tailgating is a big part of game day I was not a big fan of the west side since the only pre/post game would have involves $10 beers and $20 burgers in a jam packed bar. This kind of stuff is why I was totally opposed to the WSS at the time. My family are from Bergen County and regular parking lot tailgaters and all that . But now (and not only because I live on the West side...) I think the WSS would've been a pretty amazing thing. The crown jewel stadium in the world's greatest city, hosting international events like the Olympics, Super Bowl, Final Four, etc. etc., apart from the Giants, with a design that didn't look like a big toaster. I also think NJ people could've made the tailgating work. There would have been parking lots in Weehawken with convenient shuttles across. In retrospect, this was a generational missed opportunity. He gave it his best shot. I have to give him that. Problem was he wasn't smart enough or actually savvy enough to grease up that corrupt Silver politician who years later was prosecuted for graft. That single man nixed the whole thing. On a billion dollar project you have to be aware of bottle necks like that and woo/grease accordingly. I bet my life that James Dolan greased up Silver to vote no because he didn't want venue competition for MSG. Dolan ran a whole ad campaign against it, a phony citizens united thing with actors playing blue collar construction workers in the ad saying it was somehow bad for them. those west side rail yards were the last possible venue for a manhattan stadium and they're now sold and developed to the max. A manhattan stadium will never ever happen now bc it's all filled up. woody had the vision but not the know how. I'll admire him and never forgive him for that. It would've erased all the inferiority black cloud crap. The jets would've been Dallas cowboys famous.

The point being, agreeing to share a stadium with the Giants again continues shroud this team own identity.

He dropped he ball, because he didn't pay off who needed to be. This could have all happened and was within Woody's control to do so. Yes, he tried. Yet, he failed. Worse he agreed with another shared stadium with the Vagiants.
