Is there anything to be positive about this season?

I'm tired of being so cynical and negative, not that the Jets don't give of reason to be. What are the positives, if any, that we can build on? I'm going to go with Brandon Shell developing as a potentially starting tackle. Brandon Lee is coming along although he has to be able to cover TEs better. The young WRs aren't terrible , we've seen some nice catches from Anderson and Marshall. Would have liked to see Enunwa get the ball more and really step up in Decker's absence and become a game changer.

Hopefully if Trubiaky or Kizer are available we can get our franchise QB, if not, Teez Tabor might be a good replacement for Revis. I think Darryl Roberts and Justin Burris had good seasons considering the circumstances.

I will answer this just  before next training camp.

If the coach and front office just purges most of the lazy, underachieving vets, realizes that they as coach and gm have to do things very differently and acknowledge that the team as built was a massive flop and we need a total rebuild this season will have been a big positive.

If bowles thinks he has done a good job coaching and if Mac does not shed a lot of trash then there was nothing positive from this year.

- Bryce Petty has shown flashes at being a starter (and a lot of bad plays) but given he is playing a yea or two earlier than projected, its an expected mixed bag.

- Wes Johnson looks like he can hold the fort at center at a low cost.

- Brandon Shell might have RT starter ability.

- Our young WR's are the best we've had in awhile.

- Leo looks like a monster

- Lee looks like he'll be a starter for long time.

- Burris and Roberts have starter potential. Or at the very least will be good depth at CB

- We will soon be able get rid of Revis, Giacomini, Clady, Mangold (love him but its time), Harris (same as Mangold), Marshall and/or Decker, Fitz, Geno, Gilchrist, Sheldon, (hopefully Pryor), Folk and have good cap spac that we can use to replenish the OLine and Secondary, while focusing on drafting and rebuilding.

- Woody will pobably be in London next year and will hire an experienced football guy to oversee everything.

Yup!   Haven't decided whether I'm going to watch Jets/Cheats or not.   Probably won't.

The positive is we have one 4 win season under our belt now.  If we stay patient, continue this trend for 2 more years, if mac is any good at what he does, we have have young, explosive talent on this team and the 2020s can be ours.

if we go the quick fix route like we always do, look for another mediocre decade of football.

I don't get why people have trouble seeing any positives in this season.  Obviously the negatives outweigh the positives by about I'd say 12 to 4 (assuming we end up 4-12).  But for the positives, I mainly agree with Adoni:

  • If you look at only the better half of Petty's plays, he looks like an above average / good NFL QB.  If he can continue to eliminate his bad plays - I think he's been making some strides there, though lots more improvement is needed - he will move out of this Mark Sanchez level to be someone halfway decent.  Which for the Jets, is HOF caliber.
  • I think our late round draft / scrap-heap pickups have been extremely good.  Anderson to me seems like he's already a pretty decent #2 receiver, and Peake seems decent as well.  And who would have thought at the beginning of the year that Burris and Roberts would both be better than Revis? :-)
  • The fact that our year has been so bad, with so many injuries, means that we've gotten extended playing time for younger players.  Wesley Johnson might be an adequate starter.

I think if we clean house - and not necessarily even as extremely as some people want - I think next year we'll be a fun to watch team, maybe we'll be 8-8, and we'll hopefully be on the upswing.

- The fakes were exposed. Fitz and Bowles.

- Now we know Bowles will never be the answer and got out early.

- Our young WR corps. Robby and Enunwa are our future.

- Freeman and Winters on the Line.

- Leo development

- Lee looking solid

No.  This is rock-bottom.

During the Kotite years one at least understood that the team was bereft of talent.  This current team has talent on both sides of the ball but they refuse to work hard enough to show it.  It's disgusting.

Health alert cats use a litter box where they pee and poop  theres usually residue on their paws so now your fingers are touching pee and poop on your keyboard.

i don't know if it's work hard or know how to play the game.  the defense seems to always look lost.  the secondary is always running around and out of position.  that's not working hard as much as not executing.  same thing goes for the specials and the offense.

Agreed.

We have one shot at positivity-  change the head coach, change the defensive coordinator, see if someone can light a fire under their lazy asses, put them in a scheme that works, get the D turned around.

The O can be a work in progress, that's expected with young QB's and an aging OL.  But the D?  No excuse.
