Anthony Jet
Great win. Mets left way to many guys stranded in scoring position with less than two outs but a wins a win. Jay Bruce seems like a big part of this clubhouse, was the first guy out chasing walker after the hit. Team even with all the injuries and losing record seem to really like each other

This is the exact situation this ballclub has faced for three years in a row now, and all he does is get this team to fight through it when it happens. Speaking of which, the Collins Mets usually make their runs from mid-August on, but the bottom line is this month is quite possibly the biggest of the season. June into the break is an absolutely brutal stretch on the schedule, if the Mets are going to stay in range of Washington or a WC spot, they have to really kill it over the next 3 weeks. Once June hits, through until the break they have Pirates/Rangers/Braves/Cubs/Nats/Dodgers/Giants/Marlins/Phillies/Nats/Cards. 5 out of those last 6 are away too. Next two will be interesting. Big pitching mismatches that favor the Giants. If we can steal one with Wheeler and Montero on the mound that will be huge.

But that Walker at bat was legit. He fought off a ton of balls to finally get one he could smack into right. Great win.
deucebag
Trade idea: Matt Harvey and Lucas Duda to the RedSox (where Matt Harvey dreams of going) for Pablo Sandoval (Boston picks up $35M of the $53M on his contract) and Henry Owens (great Lefty starting prospect - who just does not "get it" yet). JohnJ
Harvey apologized to the team. Saw a couple of clips of Bruce and Grandy speaking about it, and those two guys are top shelf dudes. Terry's clubhouse is tight knit. Harvey has all the support of the team and now hopefully he stays on board, and plays for his team mates.

Anthony Jet
Driving in runs with two outs makes me happy if TJ keeps this up, gonna have to find a spot for him in the infield I've been rooting for Bruce since they acquired him, nice to see him play a major role on this team now we could use some pitching help either from the guys we expect more from, can't see us getting as lucky as we did last year with two guys coming out of nowhere to help carry us to the WC

His personnel moves sometimes leave you scratching your head, but his guys love him and play hard for him. I think I heard the other night he is about to pass Dave Johnson in the games managed column which is, actually I dunno what it is lol

But the kid just puts the bat on the ball, and has been a good contributor. Bruce has been very good for us and is a bit of a leader too. He obviously wants to win badly also. I was hoping he wasn't traded. But I never thought Sandy would just give him away either, 30 and 100 is nothing to take lightly. With Conforto and Bruce doing well, Cespedes in between them will be murder. I'm rooting for Harvey to make a difference.

Besides my boo sauce Conforto he's probably the best hitter for average on the team. Speaking of which, Conforto already has 8 homeruns on the year??? WOW!!!! My take on seasons has always been that as long as you're at .500 at the break, you're fine. That's more than enough of a position to make a run from. Teams also look a lot different in August than they do this time of year. Injuries, trades, call-ups...etc. April through June is meant for chilling out and enjoying the game being back and teams sorting themselves out. Hopefully they have enough by end of the year to be in the mix. Every team has ups and downs, and things go wrong, usually. I liked the team going in, I don't think I could've asked for more. It's about health half the time too. If healthy they're in the mix. They're in the mix now as I see it, and there's so many more options for Sandy now as the season progresses also, compared to the past, because of the deeper pool of players. Lugo and Noah hurts tho. It would appear that Noah will be back eventually. I have my fingers crossed with Lugo. I liked him more than Gsellman, but the patience that Sandy shows with players is impressive. It usually works for him too.

If you can get off to a great start, that's fine, just don't completely screw up the season. That's what used to piss my off about Girardi, and Torre at the end. They'd kill the bullpen early, and by August there was nothing left. And health. Be healthy by July/ August

Later on, he killed guys, literally ruined someone's arms every year. 98 was funny. They started on the West Coast like, 2-6 or something like that. 1 real bad week on the West Coast, and the papers were saying his job was in jeopardy. Then they don't lose a series again until late September. 2000 was odd, they were way in first, and had a horrific September, only to get hot in the playoffs. Not the way I'd recommend doing it. But, like you said. The Mets are playing better. They hang around, and get some guys back by mid July, they can make a real push. Come October, anyone can go on a run. It's just been the nature of this ballclub for 3 years running now. They win and lose in bunches. Anyone that pays attention to this team knows this. No point in throwing hissy fits when the losing streaks happen because we all know with this roster, it is going to, and they are going to be brutal to watch when they hit. Cespedes will probably get hurt again even after he comes back, something will happen with Harvey again, the bullpen will have its ups and downs and Alderson will have to add a guy or two, we'll be chasing the Nats after the break...etc. Same stuff every year, Alderson and Collins seem to figure it out over the long haul and it is hard to argue with the results.
