In case you are wondering how Jets got so bad

Lets look at the Jets draft record since 2008. Vernon Gholston LB Ohio St. Did not record single sack in three years. Dustin Keller TE Purdue Left in FA to join Miami suffered knee injury and faded away. Dwight Lowery DB San Jose St. Still active with Atlanta Falcons. Erik Ainge QB Tennessee Problems with drugs and alcohol ended his career, Marcus Henry WR Kansas did not even make the team.

2009 - Mark Sanchez QB USC - Well, you know. Shonn Greene RB Iowa has been on a milk carton the last three years. Matt Slauson T Nebraska was with Bears, not sure where he is now.

2010 - Kyle Wilson DB Boise St never learned to turn his head in pass coverage, not in league as far as I know. First of what has been a run of six consecutive defensive first round picks. Vladimir Ducasse G Mass - now with Vikings as a backup, Joe McKnight RB USC - recently killed in road rage incident but never made an impact. Next pick was Aaron Hernandez, one guy murdered the other a murderer, go figure. John Conner FB Kentucky, was a Rex favorite who he dubbed 'the Terminator'.

2011 - Mohammad Wilkerson DT Temple, Joe Klecko's alma mater - the two have little else in common, Kenrick Ellis DT Hampton can you say bust? Bilal Powell RB Louisville, one of the few remaining with team and playing well, Jeremy Kerley WR TCU - active in league in SF, Greg McElroy QB Alabama, analyst on College Game Day.

2012 - Quentin Coples DE NC - Yet another pick wasted as Rex searched for his pass rush specialist, Stephen Hill WR Ga. Tech last seen with Panthers, but not this year, Damario Davis LB Arkansas St. still active somewhere in the league. Maybe Carolina? Not sure. Josh Bush S Wake Forest, bust, Terrance Ganaway RB Baylor, never made the team, Robert T. Griffin G Baylor, also never made an impact, Antonio Allen S S.Carolina still with team but rarely used.

2013 - Dee Milliner CB Alabama oft injured released this season, Sheldon Richardson DT Missouri, bad attitude and little production, looks to be trade bait or let go, Geno Smith QB W.Va. never had a chance, game too fast for him, turnover machine with a bad attitude, Brian Winters G Kent St started this season at RG free agent I hope Jets resign,  Oday Abushi G Va. who knows?, William Campbell G Michigan who knows?, Tommy Bohannon FB Wake Forest gone this season.

2014 - Calvin Pryor S Louisville Why? I guess Rex liked his nickname "the Louisville Slugger" a name he has not lived up to, Jace Amaro TE Texas A&M cut this season, signed with someone then got injured, Dexter McDougle CB Maryland, does anyone know if he is still on the team?, Jalen Saunders WR Oklahoma never was, Shaq Evans WR UCLA, also never was, Dakota Dozier OT Furman, injured most of this season, career backup, Jeremiah George LB Iowa St never made it, Brandon Dixon CB N.W. Missouri St, college name longer than his time in NFL, Quincy Enunwa WR Nebraska starting WR, but has tailed off since strong start, I.K. Enemkpali LB La. Tech should have never loaned Geno money, Taj Boyd QB Clemson, a pick made to make Rex's son happy, Trevor Reilly LB Brigham Young still with team, plays mostly special teams.

2015 - Leo Williams DT USC, future star, Devon Smith WR Ohio St. not a future star, Lorenzo Mauldin LB Louisville, who knows?, Bryce Petty QB Baylor, doesn't look good, not a good reader of defenses and not instinctive as a passer, Jarvis Harrison OT Texas A&M never was, Deon Simon DT NW St. potential NT starter.

I will leave out the 2016 class since they are all still with the team, but no player drafted prior to 2011 is still with the Jets. In all the Jets drafted 49 players. 14  of those are still with the team with another three active with other teams. Nearly half of those 14 are underachievers and will not be with the team for much longer (Richardson, Pryor, Geno, Devon Smith, Petty, maybe Mauldin) so it is no wonder this team has fallen off the map. Williams, Wilkerson, Richardson, Winters and Powell are the only starters with Pryor starting but not worthy of it. This team is in shambles due to poor drafting and it is gonna take awhile to get better. Maybe a long long while.

And looking at the 2016 class, I see several players with potential. Lee, Burris, Shell, Anderson, Peake, Edwards. Might end up being their best overall draft class in several years.

I just dont understand posts like this-jet fans LOVE to hype up garbage as players with potential-I get it , it sucks to have no hope but

Lee is awful-how many tds do you need to see him give up in coverage to know this?  the only guy that is decent is Anderson and on most teams he is their 3rd wr if that

the jets have terrible drafts year in and year out-we bring in guys that have no history of picking players in the league and then wonder why they failed-our gm sucks-I dont need another year or two to realize this-his contract signings have been awful and his drafts awful as well-in the real business world if you bring a guy to run the show and the company regresses and his decisions have been awful he is shown the door and that is what needs to happen here

Our Gm is terrible

Our coach is terrible

our players are highly over rated

blow it up-we are rock bottom anyways-over pay a guy who is a proven winner to come here-double the norm of what his salary should be -this goes for the gm  and the coach

I am fine as a fan understanding a total re build will be a 3-4 year process but I am fine being patient if I believe in the guys doing the rebuilding

He got the 3rd highest PFF grade on defense yesterday. Only Skrine and Burris got a higher grade

Trevor Reilly I just found out is on the Fins. He spent most of the year on the NEP PS but was recently signed to the Miami 53. I think Demario Davis is with Cleveland. McDougle is with us and was promoted from our PS. Some of these other guys like Dixon and George, etc have been on other teams active rosters and might be on a PS, etc. Tommy Bohanon goes from starter to out of the league. Nobody signed him. After seeing the failings in protection of our OL I kind of think we need a fullback. We had a lot better protection last year. Some of you guys wanted to get rid of the FB position because no obvious results offensively. And said it's a wasted position like a dinosaur out of date. But not really if your Qb gets killed.

Looking back at the many failed drafts disgusts me and angers me that this actually happened year after year and numerous regimes failed to fix it.

Ive been saying forever the MY Jets don't understand what the draft is all about.

Free agency has been hit or miss as well.

If he was a spectator, he would have gotten 3 tackles. Maybe 4. Not 7.

Victor Hobson used to make tackles. He was not a similar player as Lee, but a similar effect on fans. There were some who loved him and others who hated him. We cut him and people insisted it would come back to haunt us, especially when the NEP brought him into camp. He got cut and never signed with another NFL team. Lee may turn out to be a decent player, but his first season was not good. He reminds me of Calvin Pryor, who ironically likely won't last long in the NFL once we let him go as well. Calvin Pryor, reminds me of Victor Hobson.

Excellent OP. When you look at it this way, it demonstrates just how piss poor our talent evaluation skills are/were. This continues today and I myself, have to admit I was wrong about Mac. I really and truly wanted to believe he knew what he is/was doing, but after this season and watching his last draft perform, I have really begun to question that as well. His picks were ridiculous and all of them were project/reach picks. While l think Leo is over rated as well, that pick fell into his lap and could have been made by myself were I the GM, it was that easy. He does show potential, but I am not yet convinced.

Maybe the Jets can convert Lee to safety after Pryor leaves.

Interesting...... And I recall JIm Leonhard was on the short size but was very instrumental.

Was looking up stats and Lee is probably the 3rd best rookie linebacker this year after Deion Jones in Atlanta and Jatavius Brown in San Diego.

Has Lee played OLB this year, because he is listed as an OLB?

According to the NFLPA the average NFL career is 3.3 years. The NFL claims it is 6 seasons. But anyways if a player is a 5th to a 7th draft pick and survives for 3 seasons he isn't a wasted draft pick. And a guy like Bohanon had a significant number of starts. So I won't criticize the number of high round draft picks who didn't last too long. It's just a fact in the NFL. Esp when it costs more to have a guy on the roster with experience. And the fact that there is an annual draft and UFAs and teams can replenish their roster with cheaper commodities. Btw Jeremiah George is currently on the Cowboys PS.

Most of these guys are still in the NFL or were recently on practice squads. Oday is still on the Texans active roster. And Bush is currently  a FA but was on the Broncos SB team and played in SB 50.

Sadly you are correct many of our draft picks are scattered all over the league but none standout superstar NFL players.

The Mo and Sheldon comments are far off base.  Both were elite stud-level talents up till this year, and we (fans) should be asking WHY they're not stars now.  They didn't suddenly lose all their talent.

With that said, Rex's draft history is almost as bad as Bill Parcells draft history here.  I.e. pathetic.

But knowing Rex and Idzik were bad doesn't help us get better.  What's done is done, the past is past.

And no, Macc's drafts are not on par thus far with Idzik/Rex, they're better materially.  Perfect, lol, no.  But better/professional.  No one hits on every pick, not Macc, not the Cheaters either.

Macc's career in the NFL at this level hinges on how he manages the franchise this coming offseason.  We're a total wreck right now, but we still have talent in some places.  How Macc manages to rebuild/reload this forthcoming offseason will set the tone.  I, for one, wish him well.

They gave up over 40 points. The Patriots could have scored 60. Guess what? The guy that ranks 3rd on that defense needs a ton of improvement.

A questionable ranking that says he was the 3rd best defender on a defense that was atrocious all game long. Oh, well then. I guess we don't have problems with these players after all.

I'd be fine with a hard and fast rule going forward - no defensive players from Louisville - period

Louisville or Alabama? Jets were too scared to take Ha Ha after the Milliner debocle. Jets are stupid.
