Dcat
There was no better. An integral part of my childhood television time. What immediately came to mind is how I'll never forget her laughing at Chuckles the Clown's funeral. RIP.

jetophile
Saw a special on her on TV not that long ago. Very nice, humble lady, who was very taken aback at how loved she was by the public. She said people would stop her on the street all the time and thank her for the laughs, and women would write her letters to thank her for being an inspiration in the workplace. She was a trailblazer. She was very charitable, too, which always means a lot in my book. I heard that she died of a combination of respiratory / heart failure, but still, making it to 80 with an awful disease like diabetes is one hell of an impressive run. RIP, Mary. You'll be missed.
