NFL Rumors / Signings / Cuts / Trades (Non-Jets)

Recommended Posts

PFT's Mike Florio reports "the current thinking" among those associated with free agent Darrelle Revis is that he'd want $8 million-plus to consider playing in 2017.

Revis is guaranteed $6 million this year from the Jets no matter what, so playing for anything less would mean he'd be playing for free due to offset language. An $8 million salary would essentially be $2 million in Revis' eyes. He hasn't drawn an ounce of interest since being cut a week ago. There's a very real possibility the 32-year-old (in July) sit out 2017, and possibly for good.

Falcons agreed to terms with QB Matt Schaub on a two-year, $9 million deal.

The Falcons will pay $4.5 million per year to a player they hope never attempts a pass. Schaub provides excellent intangibles as a No. 2, but is completely washed as a passer. Schaub turns 36 in June.

The Jets are the last team any decent free agent wants to sign with its becoming reality.

This organization is a mess.

Nick Perry is a decent free agent and we have been linked to him. Good Try tho.

Have we signed him?  No

There it is! The annual 'boo hoo no one wants to play here' (before FA has even officially started) post.  Congrats!

Would you or would you want your son playing for this team.

No boo hoo fact.

here's a good thought.  if the bears sign glennon then maybe they don't use their no. 3 draft pick for a qb.  the jags have a qb. that leaves just cleveland and the 49ers left to select one of the top qb's in this years draft.  so there's a good chance that watson or trubisky may be available at no. 6.

Agree

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Jets will take "a long look" at free agent Jay Cutler if they're unable to work out a trade for Trevor Siemian.

Per Mortensen, the Jets are hoping to land Siemian in a trade with Denver but would pivot to Cutler if that proves too difficult. Cutler may still have something left in the tank, but his options will be limited, especially now that Buffalo and San Francisco are no longer pursuing starting quarterbacks.

Trevor Siemian - QB -  Broncos

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Jets hope to trade for Broncos QB Trevor Siemian.

It will likely depend on whether the Broncos can land Tony Romo. Per Mort, free agent Jay Cutler is the Jets' backup plan if they can't get Siemian.

Carolina Panthers trade DE Kony Ealy to Patriots

The Panthers announced Friday that the Patriots have shipped their second-round pick south in exchange for pass-rusher Kony Ealy and Carolina's third-round selection.

Hardly a sack master and we can't get a bag of biscuits for Sheldon.

Is there any proof that Macc is actively shopping him?

With Blake Bortles? I don't get it.

Then we ship Sheldon to Jacksonville for Bortles we need to get a QB in here sooner than later unless of course Macc holds out for Watson and then we lose him in the draft.

Macc held out for Fitz and look where it got us in 2016.

There is absolutely no way Ajax is going to bring in Romo and get rid of Bortles.  Rome is a 3 or 4 game rental.  The only was Bortles goes is if Romo is the bridge to Trubisky or Watson.

And as great as Bortles Niners are, he doesn't win games.  So that wouldn't hurt our shot at drafting the team's face of the franchise in 2018.

What makes you so sure Watson or Trubisky will be on the board at 6.

Art Stapleton‏ @art_stapleton

Expectation is that former #Jets + current FA quarterback Geno Smith will visit with #Giants today, per sources.

The way it goes is he takes over for Eli in 2018 and wins a Super Bowl with the Giants...........life as a Jets fan

Jacksonville is a contender w/ romo.  Couglin has rightened that ship and they have a very talented roster.

Coughlin is used to having a veteran leader as his QB where he's had success he doesn't have the patience for Blake Bortles.

I think the belief is that Bortles is an entitled puss who needs motivation.

Or a change of scenery as a wake up call.

You know what would be excellent cover fire for this year's team? If they brought Sanchez back on a one year deal.

Oh hell yeah, the Ringling Bros circus would have a new successor.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.  Jax  isn't moving on from Bortles unless they draft a QB at 4.

I am not advocating the Jets take a QB any where in this draft unless it's day three to challenge/replace Hack.

Woody/Macc made this mess.  Taking Watson, Trubisky, or any other QB early in this draft can't fix that.  Plus, I don't see how any of them improve our 2017 situation much over any other JAG they can bring in.  Use this draft to shore up OL, TE.  Get Darnold next year.

No guarantee we get the opportunity for Darnold the Jets have to stop saying theres always next year.

Nobody is trading a 3rd round pick for Brock Osweiler at that contract

Exactly teams will wait for the Browns to cut him.

O'Brien has gone with a number of Qbs and Fitz was his starter coming out of camp in 2014. He had Mallett, etc etc. Except for Savage all of them are gone now. So where's this great expertise.

O'Brien/Macc from the same mold.
