Not if their best days are behind them when they get here. What value did Cromartie add? In the long run, Revis and Marshall added zero value besides one season where we failed to make the playoffs. Hightower can grow with the team.

I'm not saying paying him $12 million is a good idea. I just like that the Jets are interested in a young player whose very good at his position instead of an old player who use to be one of the best at his.

We won't  be making the playoffs next year with hightower.  Hey I agree that if you are going after FA it is better to get a younger guy but the team appears to be 'over investing; in a position as they have done in the past.  We have drafted 3 lbs in the past two years.

No brainer for Hightower. Why in the world would he leave New England to play for the Jets if the difference is 1-2 million? Life is a lot better when you're 14-2 every year.

Well you only have so many chances to  get paid and the Pats have clearly shown they have zero loyalty once a guy wants to get paid or is not as good as before.  I'm sure he wants to stay with the pats but a couple of his teammates have been turfed in very short order the last few year (collins, Jones)

We might have to do something novel like actually draft a RB instead of taking some teams 4th stringer

Kicker is one of the only things Jets have addressed: Cantazaro

He stinks, we have to hope he pulls a folk and has a big resurgence because he was awful last year.  I have hopes for Martin from last years camp.

Ian Rapoport‏ @RapSheet

The #Saints are hosting #Patriots RFA CB Malcolm Butler on his visit now & there is momentum toward finalizing a deal before he leaves.

Pats will get their 1st back when all is said and done

When you have Brady and Belichick you just don;t give a sh*t about your star players, the money they want too much or their play slips a wee bit they are gone.  Other teams would get killed for seeing some of their players walk.  (As in the Jets would have been killed last year if they let Mo wilk go.)

I like Rivera, would be a smart addition.

I agree, in one of my early off season fa threads I had him going to the Jets.   Would be a decent pick up and probably cheap as well.

Guys like to actually play and get paid so if the jets offer more money he will be here.

He's 38 years old. If his choices are starting for the Jets -the thing that basically ended Ryan Fitzpatrick's career- or never playing a down for the Cowboys for a couple years, I'd think he'd jump at the Cowboys.

Some people want to play game rather than cash in and wear a ball cap.

The last thing this team needs is a 38 year old journeyman under center in 2017. If he's brought in, it better be on a super cheap deal, with the understanding that he'll only see the field in the event that both the kids sh*t the bed.

He will be the day one starter, be prepared to be disappointed.

If history is any indication, you're 100% correct.

But if they're conceding it's a lost season, give the kids the reigns and let's see what they can do. It seems that it's a foreign concept to this organization.

I don't disagree with you but any vet will come in here, look 20 times better than either of the younger guys in camp and this will start.

I think our Gm has enough job security to go with kids but not the coach.

I wonder what certain Jet fans thought about Christian Hackenberg after the Giants  pre-season game ?  That exhibition and what followed in the Eagles pre-season game is the issue the Jets need to figure out .

He was terrible in both, he had one half decent drive and had one nice td throw, other than that he was pure awful in both ex games.

Don't overreact (like that's going to happen) to McCown coming for a visit.  I still believe the front office is going to

"slow play" the QB position until CLE releases Osweiler.  Not going to be surprised if / when Cutler and Daniel come

in for visits also

Just what we need another full off season of QB spec threads.  I want no part of Oswieler at all.

Osweiller looked pretty good in Denver and was only 1 year removed from that year he beat alot of good teams to help Denver get to the SB...Maybe he just needs a change of scenery but ...I would prefer us to look elsewhere as well.

I don;t think he looked that good at all in Denver to be honest.  10 tds 6 ints and 23 sacks, he three for over 300 yards once and that was 308.  He played on a team with an ultra stacked defense and just seen him in a few of the Denver games he did not look that good.  Manning was totally shot his last year and the Broncos chose him over osweiler.

I'll be surprised and disappointed if we end up with him.

He was 6 for 16 with a td and an int and a fumble for a whopping 37.5 comp rate and people think he was lights out vs the giants?  Fuc* me.

The worst thing the Jets did was carry 4 qb's last year. Hackenberg didn't get any reps in camp, or practice throughout the year.

This is the part I still can;t get about the people that are hackenburg supporters.  If you are a hack supporter you should be enraged at how the jets handled him last year.

Instead all you get is 'the plan was to red shirt him!'

This was a 2015 1st round draft pick #28 Overall and he may be cut before the 2017 season? Ouch. News like this convinces me that Mac is NOT a garbage GM as people want to make him out to be. A LOT is riding on this draft and ESPECIALLY the #6 overall. Then again, Myles Garret may fall to #6 and people would STILL give him crap like they do with the Leonard Williams pick.

The Detroit Free Press (OPINION) considers LG Laken Tomlinson's roster spot in jeopardy.

Tomlinson made double-digit starts his first two seasons, but is coming off a down 2016. With the Lions adding T.J. Lang and Graham Glasgow expected to win the starting the left guard job, he could face competition for a backup role. Tomlinson is set to make $2.3 million in the third year of his rookie deal.

The logic of "Other teams make shot picks thus our GM is better even it he makes sh*t picks" does not make sense.  It's our gms job to make good picks.  If he doesn't he gets ripped, as he should.

Long slow DB.  Pre-draft 24 he was looked at as a FS/centerfield prospect.  The Seahawks apparently gave him a tryout in 2014 after he didn't make the draft, they love long leapers like this at CB.  He's a hell of a leaper.  A 10'5" broad and 41" vertical usually don't go with Teez Tabor speed.  Crazy wingspan, over 35" arms.   Not sure how he projects at CB.  Where are the Canadian dudes?  Who knows how he was up there?  He was already going to be an older rookie. He's 27 now.

NFL.com draft profile

Pre-draft workout numbers

He was very good with the Eskimos in his one year here before getting hurt.  An Achilles injury though makes him camp fodder imo.  I would not give him a good chance to make the team at all, especially when we will probably draft a guy or two.

I am already on record as saying that achilles injuries are not always the kiss of death people make them out to be, but you certainly have a point.  Thanks for the insight.  I thought he was an outside chance guy before I knew about his achilles, but I like his measurables more than I expected.  Did he play CB or S for Edmonton?

Sometimes I remember things. Other times I just scream "Go, go Google!" into my phone.  This time it was google.  nfldraftscout and nfl.com both will almost always have draft profiles.  I've usually read up on the guy within the past couple of years, so it is more of a refresh.

He played CB.

We have taken the top 12 rbs off our draft board due to character concerns!  (trumpets blare)

We have signed every troubled player tossed by other teams!  (trumpets blare)

I guess I can see if he wants too much money but Landry is a chain mover and a very good player.  If the fins can fit him in the budget they are stupid to let him go.
