I actually like the signing. Claiborne was good when he stayed healthy.

Bolded being the key lol

I can see it now.  During a late August practice, Claiborne is covering Decker, there's a collision, and they're both out for 8 weeks.

Given the depth of this year's draft class, Claiborne might end up being our 3rd best CB when the season starts. Which isn't too shabby... of course, Mac has to trade down and get more picks in the first 3 rounds to make this dream come true. But I digress...

I thought this guy was a totally top notch CB when he was drafted.  Maybe he can reclaim some of that promise, His career has been up and down.

I watch him a lot.  He's been good last year or so, just, always hurt.

2016 was Claiborne's best season yet. He allowed a 63.0 passer rating (9th of 111 CBs) and 51.9 catch% (11th) in his coverage. #Jets twitter.com/AdamSchefter/s…

Jets sign Mike Pennel

The Jets have signed former Packer Mike Pennel to be part of their defensive line group in 2017.

If the Jets adding Pennel to the roster sounds familiar, there’s good reason for that. The Jets claimed Pennel off of waivers a day after the Super Bowl — the Packers dropped him in January and waivers did not run until the year was over — but he became a free agent last week.

Pennel’s agent announced the one-year deal that will ensure Pennel actually gets a chance to play for the Jets this year after their initial show of interest last month.

Pennel played eight games for the Packers last season as he served two four-game suspensions to open and close the year. He played 29 games in his first two seasons in Green Bay and has 40 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble for his career.

Hopefully a two year deal with injury clauses.

Nice unexpected signing.  Hopefully it's a one year "prove it" type of deal for $3-4 million

No. Hopefully it's a 5 year deal that locks in a discount (say 6-7M per) that can be escaped after 2 years if necessary.

This could mean we look to draft Hooker and pray that Claiborne stays healthy and Marcus Williams can hold down the other spot.  Burris is also hopeful.

CB Darryl Roberts flashed potential..

Draft is also deep w/CBs & Safeties

Think Baltimore was offering 5 million and Claiborne wanted 7.5.

I'm guessing it's a 6mil per deal.  Hopefully incentive driven.

A possibility or maybe a hybrid role for Marshall

Auburn QB Nick Marshall ideally suited to play safety in NFL

well.. it's 2016 all over again except we got rid of Revis' fat, lazy ass. Maybe Claiborne stays healthy. Maybe the Jets use one or two draft picks in the first 3 rounds to address the position. Stay tuned.
