Drew Brees is a free agent in 2018. Saints are history. Sean Payton asks for his release after the 2017 season & reuntites with John Morton who stays on as NY Jets OC.

All of this happens before the 2018 draft in which the Jets have the #1 pick, Darnold leaves USC knowing he's going to a team with an offensive coaching staff, with some young studs in Enunwa, Anderson, Stewart, Hanson & Legette.

The Jets are 80 million under the cap so they grab 2/3 STUD defensive players & 1 stud Olineman to fill in the gaps of their defensive & offensive lines. This along with another stellar draft (2017 turns out to be a great draft for Mac), the Jets have in place their starting QB for the next 12 years & a coaching staff that knows how to create mismatches & score a ton of points.

New York Jets dominate the AFC East starting in 2019.

Payton I'd take but pass on Brees

Absolutely shocked about all the Harbough supporters that were Rex detractors!!! He is a bigger clown than Rex!!!

Bring me "the chin", I think he has been waiting for this moment to come coach in NY.  I thought he was waiting for the NYG gig but that has passed.

Guy wins every place he as been from college through the pros as a player, and same thing as a coach. I understand he might not be a very good long term NFL coach, but could work for a while. Got pushed out by the Niners in a power struggle with ownership; we should be so lucky. And better than watching Bowles crapping himself on a weekly basis.

That would be interesting.  I mentioned in another thread, I wonder who actually hired Morton, Bowles, or Macc, and what he was told went he was hired.  If Macc hired him, Bowles may be the fall guy for this upcoming season

Entirely possible Morton took this job with the understanding he will be the interim HC when Bowles gets shown the door midseason.

That is possible, but I don't see why it would be.  The guy is a no-name WR coach for the past six years.  He has  a whopping one year as OC in college.  Why would he need any such assurance to take an OC job?  This isn't a guy with such an ascending career we needed to beg.  We were his only interview as far as I can tell.

This guy is a no-name.  He is not even the most well known John Morton at USC.  When they interviewed him I thought they meant Johnnie Morton who was at least a good player, but even he hasn't done anything in the past 15 years except be called a faggot by Matt Millen.

I at least want someone with HC experience next time. We have had 4 HCs now in a row with ZERO ZIP NADDA HC experience at any level before getting the top job here (except Bowles brief stint as interim in Miami). No wonder they have a tough time not barfing all over the clock at the end of halves.

Mike Maccagnan and whoever he hires as HC. I don't understand the hate for Mac considering the last two GM's we have had. Actually three if you count Terry Bradway. Mac is head and shoulders better that any of them and I think he has the Jets on the right track. Todd Bowles I have serious doubts about. I doubt his ability to motivate players and I don't think he is on the same page as Mac as far as their collective vision of the team.

I agree I was a Macc fan and thought the Jets got that right finally. Getting a real scout in that position instead of a bean counter like Tannenbaum. But now I'm not a Macc fan after he went back to back safeties in the draft. Either he has no balls and making picks just for Bowles instead of looking at the weaknesses across the entire team. I guess Macc was in a coma last year and missed the offense mess last year.

When Todd Bowles is making your draft decisions time for a new GM

IN 2 years, most of you will be saying the same thing about the new ownership group because like always, the fans know better  .

In 3 years Mac has made us the worst team in the NFL.   I used to look forward to the NFL draft, now I dread it.  Idzik and Mac killed that along with Goodell moving the draft from the weekend just so our misery gets extended in prime time.

B-but Mac made good "value" picks like Devin Smith and Hackenberg
