And guys a little feedback helps. Other than just saying wtf.

Are you on desktop? Mobile? I can't pay for this site myself so ads are here. I will try to make this right but I need actual feedback.

Hey Max I couldn't use the site today on my iphone. After every hit it kept redirecting me to some, I won something, site. Sure enough, as I sit on my computer, I tried to do it just now on my phone to tell you the site but it's not doing it anymore.

It's one of those "Hey, you won $1000" redirects that often show up on those video streaming sites for sports.

However, I have no problem when I use the app on my phone. It only occurs when I use Safari on my phone. It also only occurs, for me at least, once you click on a topic. It doesn't happen when I'm on the forum main page or looking at the titles of the thread.

I'm assuming it's an issue with redirects on an in-thread advertisement, which force the mobile phones to open up the page automatically. Unfortunately, from what I could tell, it's not the fault of the site, nor the direct advertiser because they use third party advertising, which leads to the issue. Pretty much every site gets hit with these, but they can only be prevented on a per-report basis. So some large site like ESPN has workers constantly looking for reports on their websites, and then resolve the issue on their servers. That can't be the case here because everyone involved has other responsibilities.

I think the only way to resolve the issue is a crowd effort to find the roof issue. So if everyone takes screenshots of the ad, it will reveal the ad tag. If enough of these are shown, a pattern will emerge and it provides a tangible proof that a certain advertisement is causing redirects, and then remove that specific advertisement. This is also why a problem such as redirects tend to fester for longer periods of time because it's improbable with proof to find the offending party. Most resolutions are just stabs in the dark without ad tags.

Unlike billboard ads or newspaper ads, the proprietor doesn't have final clearance on an ad. No one wakes up in the morning to pick ads to run that day on the site. It's all third party directed, and they base the ads on carefully constructed algorithms, sometimes relying on cookies and history of the target audience.

Since almost all of the issues seem to be on the mobile site, I suggest people download the app. If there is an issue with the mobile site, take screenshots of the redirect, and post it in feedback. Then use the app to browse the threads, without issue. Yes, you won't see the same exact color scheme, but all the information and set up processes the same way so you aren't missing much, if at all.

Well I fixed it by removing all the ads. Unfortunately that isn't a long term solution. :)

This is very frustrating and I appreciate the patience from everyone. We got dropped from the Fox Sports ad network, we had them for two months and that was the best network we had been in. They dropped all 3rd party ad sales I was told. So we are looking for what is next.

I will stop using this network all together (that caused this problem). I have one that pays a lot less but has great customer service. I am going to try them out next. Hopefully this afternoon and tonight.

I will get it worked out, thanks.

It's just strange how it escalated yesterday. For a couple months it would happen once or twice then stop. Barely a distraction. Yesterday morning it became unrelenting. Is it possible there is some sort of way to regulate it? So it maybe happens no more than once or twice a day? You don't charge people to come here so having to click out of an add a couple times a day is hardly an issue.  Yet if it keeps people off the site then obviously it has to be addressed.

The problem was we have been with the other ad network for months. When I put these ads back in place all hell broke loose.

There are a few networks that we worked with in the past. Ideally we would have a 100% fill option. There are all these bidding desk solutions that maximize revenue but then when something goes wrong you don't know which network caused the problem.

So we are looking for one quality network. It will bring in less money that way but it will make us all happier I am sure. Nobody has to see bad ads. And I don't have to talk about bad ads anymore lol.

Is there a fix for my iPad?  I had the same experience as others yesterday, every other click brought up that ad.

Going to get rid of that network, took the ads down last night. Hopefully that is the fix. :)
