Dcronin
Free agents. Do many good quality FAs shake loose between now and opening day because of particularly loaded teams or crowded position groups? Or does the obvious question loom for most of those - "Why didn't they make the team?" Trying to remember a decent FA we picked up just before season started, but can't think of any. Also, considering any cuts or restructures after this year, how much cap space $ you think we are working with next year? DC
Integrity28
Didn't they change something with regard to roster sizes and cut-down dates? I thought I heard someone talking about how a lot of players are going to be looking for new teams here soon on one of the channels in the background. Pretty sure we're going to be in full-blown mini-draft wonderland.
Integrity28
My "wishlist" is really at RB. I think there are a few teams that have too many guys to keep... Saints, Seahawks, Eagles and maybe Broncos or Chiefs could all have useful players they cannot roster.

Yeah I think there is no cut down between games 3, and 4 in the preseason this year for the first time, think you go straight to 53 from 90 instead of 90-75-53. #27TheDominator
I think it is too bad for the Jets they didn't keep the old rules. We would be buyers in the 1st round of the mini-draft this year, when normally you don't pick up guys because they are not likely to help you that season. I think they will swap quite a few bodies, particularly at WR, CB ( though they may stand pat at CB because the guys they have were draft picks, if late ones) and OLine. They are not likely to get the kind of guys people look for (name recognition, think Jason Babin) cause those are often salary dumps (guys teams don't want to guarantee) and the Jets should not be taking on vets/salary. Those players would also prefer to play elsewhere.

Whether they're full FAs that their team cuts outright, or are available for trade for fairly low compensation. We let Pete Kendall go right around this time. A handful of years before that Belichick cut Lawyer Milloy in early September. Packers released Josh Sitton in Sept last year. The best players that cut loose this late are often (if not usually) due to personal problems rather than a crowded/loaded team, or they'd have cut the player earlier. Sitton was complaining about the playcalling so they dumped him even though he's still in his prime and makes less than we gave Brian Winters a few months later. Pete Kendall was bitching about his contract (or more correctly, that the team went back on its promise to bump him up by $1m after acknowledging to him that he was badly underpaid, or anyway that was Kendall's side of the story IIRC). So ask yourself who's miserable? Then remove all the Jets players from that list lol.

Just thinking that if the right priced guys shake loose who look like they could fit in in 2018, grab 'em.

BCJet
Id like to see us move Buster Skrine for a young player at a different position. McDougle can easily take over Skrine's role and we could acquire someone like Phillip Dorsett in exchange.
