I dropped cable and sent ESPN 3 emails , different departments, same message.

We white males , age 35 to 65 are tired of you.

I don't know what being a white male between the ages of 35 and 65 has to do with knowing Rex Ryan is a buffoon, but ok.

Blaming this hacks inability to do basic sideline reporting on ESPNs desire for diversity is 100% racist. There are hundreds of qualified black/Latin/Asian reporters who could do that in their sleep. The fact that this guy happens to be incompetent has nothing to do with his ethnic background.

He sounds like he's doing Cruz Azul vs Club America. It sucks. It's not football and you can't make it be football just because you desire to.

They only hired him because he's [Rex Ryan]. Not because he's actually qualified for the job.

One live stand up makes him incompetent? That seems a bit harsh. I'd love to see your effort to do this in a nonnative language to you.

this is what happens when you try to secure a different audience.  in this case espn is trying to appease the snowflake crowd but at the expense of the usual beer swilling bar goer.  the problem here is that the snowflakes will never be fully on board with the nfl because of the concussion issue and nobody watches any sports game because of the color commentary. a tv commentator is like a baseball manager in that he/she can lose an audience but never gain one.

uh, espn's desire for diversity is 100% racist.  as you said there are tons of qualified people out there who can do this reporting.  some are even white guys and girls but espn brought this clown because he part of the desporte network.

Why would ESPN put the guy on if he has trouble speaking English? They set him up to get flamed. Poor job on their part, unless they were just looking for something to go viral. They definitely had to know Namath was wasted too.

To be fair, most former coaches and players that get these jobs get them based on their name recognition. While Rex was not great last night I actually think he has potential. The sideline reporter's sole qualification was his "background"

If he's not a good speaker in this language, why would they put him on TV in this role?

ESPN let go of just about everyone else. They had to go into the deep roster for him. Feet to the fire is how a lot of the talent learns. I'm sure if given another shot (and he should have been last night), he'll be much better and more relaxed.
