If Petty was starting instead of McCown, I guarantee that the Jets would be 1-6 at best.

Maybe, but I kind of prefer that. Need to find out what we have in Petty sooner than later. And if that plan nets us a higher draft pick - all the better.

Insane take - the Giants have an aging roster, no offensive line, no RB, and are about to have to pay a diva WR who is a cancer in the locker room.

The browns are in a better spot then the jets?  No rebuttal necessary on that one.

Put Kirk Cousins on the Jets next year with 3 top 60 picks and see what this team looks like then.

The Giants will have top 3-4 picks in each round to start sorting out their many flaws.  They haven't paid Beckham yet, so what's the problem there?  They could franchise tag and trade him if they really wanted to, and load up with a ton of picks.

They have Eli and can draft a QB, thus creating a very nice transition where the rookie can sit for a year or so.

Yes, the Browns are in a better spot.  They're still counting their picks from the Wentz trade.  They started building their roster from scratch when Hue Jackson arrived, and have a lot of young talent.  They didn't take their QB right away, probably because they wanted to build up the rest of their roster first.  It's only a matter of time before that franchise turns things around.  Myles Garrett alone puts them in a better spot than us.  Pass Rusher is the 2nd most important position on the field, and he's a special talent.  We have zero elite players on our roster, and are completely weak at every premium position on the field.

Oh sure, it's so easy to just go get Kirk Cousins.  Nevermind that the Redskins are going to lose that fight and will eventually pay him.  Even if he walks....why would he come here?

Agreed.  Ive been advocating for this since training camp.  It's a win-win for the organization.  Petty either proves he's a legit NFL QB or he leads the team to a top draft pick.  Having a 38 year old journeyman QB lead us to 5-6 meaningless wins accomplishes NOTHING.
