Bowles: We’re going to Play the Bucs, not Fitz

The Jets have a chance to even their record on Sunday, if they win they will be 5 and 5 on the season. The matchup against the Bucs is interesting because it looks like they will be facing Ryan Fitzpatrick. Todd Bowles was asked about facing Fitzpatrick.

I mean Fitz was good when he was here. We’re going down to play the Buccaneers, not Fitzpatrick. We’re going to prepare like a normal week and go down and try to get a win.

The media is always trying to provoke a reaction. Bowles was asked a very strange question, does he find it funny that they are facing Fitz.

No, not really. I mean, he’s been on different teams, I’ve been on different teams and played against some guys that I coached and coached against. It’s a pretty normal week for us.

The Jets have many new names on defense this year. Bowles as asked if having practiced against Fitzpatrick helps playing against him easier.

Not really. It’s a different scheme. You’re more playing the scheme than you are the player. He’s familiar with us as well as we are familiar with him. He’s got 52 guys behind him and we’re a different team and have tweaked some things since he’s been gone. It’s a little different for both parties.

Making matters worse for the Bucs is that wide receiver Mike Williams has been suspended for this play.

I'm excited for the moment when they cut to Bowles down on the sideline and he's looking across the field at Fitzpatrick like

That's UnitedWhoFans proudly watching the game clock hit 0:00 after a beautifully blown 20-point 4th quarter lead

Fitz was a gamer while he was here but man, the entitlement he brought with him just rubbed me the wrong way and not to mention the divide in the locker room between the Pro-Fitz crowd (Marshall, Decker, Mangold etc...) and everyone else (Sheldon) really was a major reason the team fell apart the way it did last year also resulting in the purge you saw this offseason.

How much says during a Timeout they huddle up to discuss a crucial 3rd down play and Todd accidentally looks at Josh and says, "Fitzmagic, errr, Fitz, errr, Ryan, errrr beard...sh*t Josh, my bad...just hand the ball to Forte, cool?

"You are playing the scheme not he player"  And this is why Bowles sucks as a coach.  Bellichick does not think that way at all.  Bellichick is all about exploiting the poor players on the other team and not letting the good ones bet you and he goes out of his way each game to take advantage of suspect players or hid his own players that are suspect.

It also shows that his 'system' is more important that putting his players in the best place to make plays.

Crap coach.

1) he has to say this

2) the jets offense is mostly about scheme, and he knows this

3) after all the bs that fitz pulled on the jets when the jets treated him like royalty, you have to figure bowles is salivating at scheming specifically to get to fitz and force turnovers.

I'm really happy Evans isn't playing either. Fitz was always good at utilizing Marshalls superior height over corner. Who threw a lot of jump balls that Marshall would go up and get and Evans can do the same thing.

He's going to have a much harder time trying to throw deep balls to Deshaun Jackson. He never threw the deep ball well.

He kind of has to say this. He doesn't want to make it a big deal that the team is playing Fitz. Which it really isn't.

What Bowles says to the media is in no way a reflection of how they will game plan. Same with Belichick.

you don't think the jets schemed against tyrod last thursday?  they rushed 5 precisely to keep tyrod contained.  and they keyed on lesean mccoy to keep him from breaking out.  how'd that work out? and on offense the td to anderson was the result of him getting single coverage by the db.  was that scheming against a defense?  it sure was.

Amazing that people can't see this!!

What is wrong with folks, Bowles doesn't say the stupid thing like "yea we know Fliz weaknesses and can't wait to exploit him" thereby being unprofessional and insane all in one breath ----- but Bowles is attacked here because he said sane thing....

It would be very Jetsian for Fitzpatrick to drop a 3 TD, 350 yard game on the Jets and blow up their season for good.  This board would implode if Fitz torches the Jets.

More Fitzpatrickesque would be to throw 6 INT's and the Jets blow TB out 51-7

idk.  i remember watching a jet bills game maybe 8 years ago.  fitz was playing and the jets just about had the game iced.  it was one of those games where a single first down in the final minutes would've iced it.  well wouldn't you know, the bills won in the end.
