Americans from coast to coast worked hard for our freedom and died for our freedom.

Yes, but Kaepernick was very clear that this was NOT about the military or disrespecting the troops.  In fact, a former marine was the one who told him he should kneel, not sit, for the anthem, in order to protest in a fashion that didn't disrespect the flag.  So, Kaepernick knelt.

The military in itself hasn't really had a problem with Kaepernick by and large.  It's mainly the citizens who THINK the military should be outraged who are the ones who are pissed.

This bit of satire sums it up:

Veteran Told What Offends Him

WASHINGTON—In the wake of protests in which some players knelt during the national anthem prior to this week’s NFL games, a U.S. Army veteran has been informed that the acts offended him. “This behavior spits in the face of everything you fought for,” said friends, family members, co-workers, politicians, television pundits, newspaper columnists, and millions of social media users, notifying the 65-year-old who served two tours in the Vietnam War that the protests were a mockery of all the sacrifices he had made. “You didn’t risk your life so that a bunch of millionaires could grandstand about some social issues. When these players refuse to rise for the anthem, they’re trampling all over your legacy, so of course you’d be furious.” Upon stating that the protests saddened him but that he had fought for their right to take place, the veteran was informed that, while his service was appreciated, he just wasn’t getting it.

Michael Bennett stood last night because it’s Veterans Day coming up. There is no correlation between the military and veterans and the protest. It’s just a boring, played out talking point from lazy people.

I really think if he simply kneeled and responded, I want to see people start talking about police brutality, and see some changes be made, this would be over a long time ago. But the simple fact is, he said, and did much, much more. When you start talking about a country that oppresses minorities, and making it about the country, rather than the isolated instances, wear pig socks, and all the other documented things he has done, you really lose people who might otherwise have been firmly behind him and his cause.

I realize that. Kaepernick hijacked the moment to serve his own needs. Another reason why he sucks.

If you were following, I responded to bitonti's complaint about the traditional flag routine and honoring troops at an unworthy CLE vs SF game.

the same could be said about being paid to roll out a 200-foot flag before every game, no matter how minor the game.

like the troops need to be honored before Cleveland vs San Francisco.

It's nationalism and that's a form of activism too. The league can't shove flags in everyone's mouth on one hand and then ban anthem protest on the other. It's unAMerican on about a dozen levels.

When you own the product or the company, you can flaunt in any manner that you like. Those are the privileges of ownership.

When you are an employee, you do not have that right, within guidelines of fairness.

That said, the owners would be WRONG to have colluded against an employee by blackballing said employee for any opportunity for work.

All in all though, said employee is judged by talent AND his ability to fit in the culture of a team and abide by what an owner would like to see his product demonstrated as. That is their prerogative. Said employee has shown a basic level of talent, BUT has certainly hurt himself in the culture of a team. You can't force a team to bring on what an owner feels is a cancer.

Wonder why all the CFL teams have not reached out to Kap, or any other league for that matter?

so the man who faked a racist story is now someone you believe?

I don't believe it's about the military but it is about our Country and our flag which Colin said so.  you and those guys can have your perceptions but no need to trash our Country.  Try going to countries where real oppression takes place, ask the 3 UCLA players about that right now.  the problem is w/ the media and social media, guys post things and everyone believes it then much later it comes out that it was false but no one cares at that point like all the staged racism such as Bennett, LeBron graffiti, the air force guy, the guy at K State and this is all recent.  I'm all for people standing up for what they believe in but just b/c they do doesn't make it right.

Michael Bennet should be humiliated since that video came out and showed him lying through his teeth, and raising racial, and police tension.

Packers and Texans are doughnut teams; very good with big holes at QB. One or the other need to sign him, as long as he makes the point of acknowledging his protest(inane as I think it is)has made it's point and it's time to move on.Win for him, win for the NFL, nonsense ends. If Goodell had an ounce of common sense it's done this afternoon.  Both of these teams can advance in the playoffs with him but neither is doing anything without him.

No. He made his bed. No one should be forced to take that baggage. If he was good enough to overcome the attnention then he would be on a team.
