JetNation
The 4-5 Jets traveled to Tampa Bay to take on the 2-6 Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. They played against a familiar face in QB Ryan Fitzpatrick who started in place of the injured Jameis Winston. Both teams were missing key offensive starters: WR Mike Evans (suspended) for the Bucs and RB Matt Forte (knee) for the Jets. New York running backs Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire handled duties in the backfield. THE GOOD Leonard Williams sacked Fitzpatrick in the second quarter. CB Darryl Roberts picked off a Fitzpatrick pass and got his first interception as a professional. K Chandler Catanzaro hit a 47-yard field goal just before the half. The Jets consistently gave the Bucs poor field position. WR Robby Anderson caught a 38-yard fourth quarter touchdown. THE BAD New York failed to score any points in the first quarter. The team only had 7 first downs and 166 total yards on 50 yards rushing and 66 yards passing. They also had 5 penalties for 44 yards in the first half. The Jets gave up a 44-yard punt return in the second quarter. The defense gave up a 6-yard touchdown pass to RB Charles Sims. THE UGLY QB Josh McCown had a pass intercepted in the second quarter. Powell fumbled near the end of the third quarter and gave the Bucs the ball near midfield. S Marcus Maye was called for illegal contact as he intercepted a pass by Fitzpatrick. The offensive line gave up six sacks. Jets inactives included: QB Christian Hackenberg, RB Matt Forte, CB Robert Nelson, CB Derrick Jones, LB David Bass, LB Obum Gwacham and OL Jonotthan Harrison Click here to read the full story... ASH1962
The good: I do not have to sit here eating my guts out aggravated next Sunday, I can live for the next 2 weeks in peace and hope come Nov 26, I do not give a $hit and do not watch. The bad: They committed a penalty on the very first play of the game, and on every other play thereafter it seemed. The HC is a zombie. He just stands on the sidelines with his arms folded looking clueless. They made the Buccaneer defense look like the 85 Bears & 86 Giants all in one. They could not muster more than 1 drive when the game was within reach, and even that was marred by penalty after penalty, resulting in a half mile long FG that Catanzaro made. They made zero in game adjustments & showed zero ingenuity. They did not try the hurry up, did not try a trick play or 2 to fool the defense, no QB roll outs, nothing. They could not block TB's LB'ers all game long and made no adjustments to fix that. Same $hit every series. Run for 3. Run for 2. Sack or pass under the FD marker resulting in 3 & out. O line was on the bye week today, just completely out of it. We are better with Qvale at RT, Shell sucks. Winters sucks. The defense played fairly well but tired from being on the field in 80 degree weather all game long. Add in tons of defensive penalties as usual helping to extend a few TB drives resulting in FG's and the one TD. The Ugly: Today's game looked an awful like last year to me. The same deficiencies this CS exhibited last year, continued today. They have now lost 4 of 5. Another season heading into oblivion as the losses mount. They just lost to Ryan Fitzpatrick without his best receiver. Ultra ultra embarrassing. What is going to happen against Newton, Brees, Smith, Rivers & Brady? 4-12 is a realistic possibility. Cmon man, did you really expect a different result from this season? I'm almost disappointed that they won 4 games. The good that I see is that the young players are developing, and we're finding out who the keepers are for next year, when we hopefully get the QB situation we've been waiting for. i agree about the coaching staff. My biggest problem (one of many) with Bowles is that he stubbornly sticks with players like Buster Skrine, when he has good young players on the bench who are waiting to earn their chance. He's very conservative on offense and can't make halftime adjustments. He also doesn't know how to motivate or discipline players, despite being a Parcells student. He's also not that great of a defensive mastermind. Rogers is just lost. That guy has no ******* idea what the hell he's doing, yet Bowles won't replace him.
