Or like on 12/31 when Gronk was not targeted to save him for the playoffs and Adams and Lee claimed  "WE-SHUT-EM-DOWN"

High low blanket coverage and Brady decided that he would go else where with the ball.  Unless you think he was instructed not to throw him the ball to save money.  NE wouldn't do that, would they?

Adams true value is not as a "cover" safety. And I don't believe anyone has ever claimed he was even an average cover safety. The scout report is stupid because it ignores the two qualities that put Adams near the top of most draft boards. His leadership skills and football IQ. When you can read the O and know where the play is going, you can set up your teammates to make plays and you don't have to be particularly fast yourself to make a play.

So, what exactly is the point? No one ever said Adams is a cover safety and now because he isn't, he was somehow a bad pick?

YOU DO NOT PICK AN IN THE BOX SAFETY WHO CANNOT COVER AND CANNOT CREATE TURNOVERS AT 6.  HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO SHOUT THIS?  If indeed he was never viewed as a guy who could cover then the pick has to go down as a very poor pick.

Cam chancellors get picked in the later rounds.  Earl Thomas and ed reeds that can cover and create turnovers get picked early.

Will this guy be a good in the box saftey long term?  Could very well be but it is an awful use of draft resources if that is all he is.  We drafted a small ILB the year before to be an in the box tackling machine.
