Also said that Davis Webb will be starting by the end of the year and that Webb could get some snaps this week as well. This is exactly what the Jets should be doing but they are too stubborn to admit that the season is already over. So what, Petty and Hack get to split 3 games? Real smart....

So the Jets wont start Petty because they know what they have in Petty after four games but the Giants are going to give Geno Smith who played multi seasons a chance to see what he can do....

They bench their HOF headed QB and we can't bench McCown.....

Ok makes sense to me....

Another reason to add to the long list on what the giants do better than the jets. They realize their season is over. They have seen enough of Eli I think ha. Maybe they want to see how geno does with their team. See if they want him back next yr as a backup or not. Maybe they are thinking of cutting Eli, drafting a rookie. They want a capable backup just in case.

As much as we (justifiably) crap on Geno, the guy had a 105 passer rating the last 4 games he started. Imagine what we would be saying about Hack if he posted a 105 rating the last 4 games of this season?

It’s because giants hold themselves to a much higher standard than the jets. I am sure the giants do the same even at 4-7 knowing it’s over. But the jets at 4-7 is look at like some kind of achievement.

By the logic read here. Why are the Giants making the change this week?  Their season has been over for weeks, right?

The reason, they were officially eliminated from the playoffs last weekend. JMO Jets will do the same once officially eliminated from playoffs. I'll define officially since many here have a different definition. Officially = mathematically eliminated. I know what Bowles has said but JMO he's not communicating to the public (and probably the team) the plan to play Petty/Hack other than they are focusing on and trying to win the next game. As a HC that is his responsibility to the rest of the team. Once mathematically eliminated his stance will change

I know many, many fans here don't agree but just giving my $.02...

There's no way in hell the Giants do the same while mathematically alive for the playoffs.  None.

Or Petty for that matter.  I get the "Punch"lines and how he kind of blew his opportunity here (although a smarter coach would have given him an opportunity to win back his job the next season...) but why we continue to crap on a guy who is no longer here is more than curious.  Why not just wish the guy the best except when he plays against us (as we do most ex-Jets?).

Classic! This is the look of a franchise in full fall-apart, meltdown, disintegration mode.

Not sure about that. Other than insulting Eli , this is a classic move of a franchise that's ready to accept all the negative optics , by going into full tank mode in hopes of locking in their next franchise QB.

I wish the Jets were that ballsy.

Good to know that the gold standard for right way to handle things now apparently includes Ben McAdoo and Geno Smith.  By comparison, they make Bowles and McCown look like Walsh and Montana.

What are you talking about. The Giants, in my opinion, are not handling this right. Go right to Webb and skip Geno

If the Giants were smart, they would skip the middleman altogether. If you’re going to draft a QB, don’t go halfway with this

I'd imagine they're just really trying to lower everyone's expectations.  After a little taste of Geno, Giants fans will fall in love with Webb no matter how he plays.

Just had another Giants fan friend of mine basically tell me "We're the Jets" because they aren't going full bore with this.

I sent a group text to a bunch of my Giants fans friends about this.  That was clearly not the wisest choice, as there are some long winded rants going on in response.  Is kind of funny though.
