Eli Manning must be fuming right now Giants are the laughing stock. Geno always will be a backup QB in NFL

Think the Giants sit the Iron Man of NFL QBs and a future HOFer and the Jets say they an't take a chance and look at the young guys cause McCown is just to good...

Except that the Jets are eliminated, they are just too stubborn to admit it. So they are giving Petty/Hack 3 (at most) whole games to play this season. Awesome.

Like I said it’s stupid. But until they’re “officially” out of it. McCown is starting.

The streak is over for Eli lol. This is great. Misery loves company.

I hope Geno lights it up for a few weeks and the Giants kid themselves into thinking he is their answer at QB going forward.

The hate continues.... lol.  How about he lights it up, and goes to another team next season, wins a starting job and finally realizes his potential?

They have to cling to something.

Last year a lot of real smart guys assured me that Geno wouldn't get signed by anyone..  then they promised me he wouldn't win the backup job...  after that they were POSITIVE he wouldn't take a snap for the Giants.

He stinks. He won't light it up. That team is in no position for a below average backup to step in and start playing well.

Agreed, but Geno is mobile and can avoid the rush much better than Eli and make some plays. Is he a winning QB? No. But the Giants are 2-9 with Eli, they won't be any worse with Geno. In fact, Geno may actually get a little hot and win a couple of games.

Some here are acting as if Geno's career record is 0-20. Geno can make plays and sometimes that is better for a team like the Giants.

Lol, dude have you seen the CRAP that has been starting at Qb this season?  Take off your hate colored glasses for second; Geno could start in place of lot of the bums I have seen trotted out this year.

And shame on John Mara. He just let a head coach who is out of here on January 1st bench the QB who won him two Super Bowls, ALL SO THAT GENO SMITH GETS THE START. NOT ROOKIE QB DAVIS WEBB, GENO SMITH! EUGENE CYRIL SMITH!!!

Unless Geno puts out a 158 rating they probably go to Webb next game anyway. They likely want to give the guy a full week of practice as a starter before throwing him to the wolves. I think you are overreacting to this.

Geno will get cut and the Cheats will pick him up. Demario Davis will end Brady's career and Geno will win 4 Super Bowls thereafter...

...hahahah, sorry, couldn't keep a straight face.

...but it might happen.

They announced this on a Tuesday. They played last Thursday. He's had time.

They're basically playing Josh McCown. If you want to give him a week of starting, just play Eli this week and then make the switch. Dont **** around with Geno Smith.

You also have to think that McAdoo got a vote of confidence from the Maras if he's doing this.

Not necessarily...you realize that their season is over right? What would be the point of throwing Eli out there with no chance of making the playoffs, without their top 3 WR's and a horrible line. What the Mara's/Giants should have done is say that it is in Eli's best interest to hold him off the field until they can evaluate the team next season when there are meaningful games. They can still fire McAdoo, bring in a new HC and start Eli next year if he plays better in the PS, even if they draft a QB top 5.

If he's going to be fired anyway, why would he do it?

At this point, McAdoo should know he's either being let go or being brought back. Because I would think the Maras would give him the OK to make this move.

Because they want to see what Geno can do in there offense, before moving on to Webb (probably to give Webb a little more time, also to see if Geno is worth bringing back next season to compete for starter or back up.)

If they're drafting a top QB next year and they don't have Eli, Geno Smith is not going to be the answer.

But beyond that, in order for McAdoo to do this, he must have been told that you are either being let go or brought back. Because logically, you want to save your job.

So? What's that suppose to mean though? My garbage is better than your garbage? Garbage is garbage. Geno Smith being better than Blaine Gabbert for example doesn't make Geno Smith any good.

Guys like Geno, fitz, McCown all prove that to be a good Qb in a league you have to have both the physical and mental aspects and instincts.  You don;t have to be perfect in all areas but you just can't be terribly weak.

Geno has an NFL arm, good enough accuracy, good enough mobility but awful awareness and instincts.

He will do the usual when he once again gets his chance, have a nice drive or two to where you think, Geno is looking good!

And then the next two drives he will take a mind blowingly bad sack and an awful turnover of some sort.
