The Colts didn't tank for Manning and let's not forget the big talk going into that draft was how close Peyton and Ryan Leaf were.  There is no such thing as a sure thing.

The Colts did tank for Luck but that hasn't really worked out w/ the injuries, has it?

Basketball is a very different sport and the Spurs had the 3rd worst record in the NBA that season.

Tanking is exactly what the colts did for Manning and Luck.  They started Curtis Painter and 41 year old Kerry Collins for crying out loud

And it’s actually harder to tank in the nba because the lottery just ask the Knicks

They tanked for Luck, that's what I wrote but what have they gained from it?  Luck can be great but he's barely played the last 2 seasons and who knows what will happen in the future? are they better off than they would have been keeping Peyton for a few more seasons?

and they didn't tank in 1997.  They were just bad as they were in 1998 w/ Peyton.

The rest of the colts player personnel management has sucked besides tanking for Manning and Luck but they have been way more consistently in the playoffs and competitive than the jets last 20 years and btw have 2 Super Bowl appearances and won one and Luck got to an AFCG with horrible personnel

Yes having 3 mediocre teams in the same division certainly helps that consistency.

Let them play the Pats twice a year

again, they didn't tank for manning and they had the most talented roster in football the majority of Peyton's career.

They did tank for Luck and they got one title game out of it so far, will they get more? they have made the playoffs 3 out of 6 years in the worst division in football and they have 3 playoff wins.  We made it 2 of 4 seasons w/ Sanchez, had 2 title game apps and 4 PO wins.

By the way, we had the opportunity to get Peyton if Parcells just told his family they would pick him #1 in 1997 but he didn't want that.
