Lee has been an improved player and was starting to be a key player on defense. So him not bring on the field is a minus. It's probably a disciplinary situation like a missed meeting and Bowles thinks he has to make an example of him. I'm sure Bowles is right but Lee is a guy we are building a future on. I'm disappointed but I'll side with the coach.

this could easily be an overreaction to any perceived backlash for praising jamal adams for stupidly hitting cam in the end zone after a td but criticizing anderson for lobbying for the probowl after actually doing something right, so maybe bowles thinks he needs to show he can actually discipline a defensive player.

So Lee was inactive for being late to Saturday’s practice. And Wilkerson was benched for being late to a meeting.

Should’ve been the other way around but sure why not. Bowles continues to let Wilkerson loaf around and do nothing but wave his finger at him. Lee, first time offense and he misses a whole game.

"Mo gets special treatment because he went to Temple".

What is wrong with Bowles?  Wilkerson is a habitual defender.   He has always done this sh*t and was even disciplined for it last year.  Lee is a first time offender.  Bowles must be afraid of veterans or something.

Up and down year for lee

Hope this wakes him up

I wouldn't say that.  He's been getting better throughout the year, which is what you want to see out of a young guy (and especially out of a young guy who has only been playing LB for like three years).  Top 10 LB in the league per PFF the last six weeks.

Not sure I agree with it, but apparently late to meeting less of an infraction than late to practice. We also don't know how late Mo was vs. Lee. If it was 5 min vs. an hour, that could be telling. Or, the reason they were late.

Also, I wonder if they expect more from Lee; does this mean that the Jets are moving on from Mo at the end of the year?

Yes.  The Jets view Williams, Lee, Adams, and May as their future on defense. Williams is no JJ Watt, but he's been playing hurt all year.  More than people know.

The New York Jets played without first-round linebacker Darron Lee during Sunday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lee was announced as a surprise healthy scratch before the game. Coach Todd Bowles said after the victory that it was a coach's decision to sit the 2016 No. 20 overall pick.

Lee told reporters he was benched for "violating team rules," per reporters on the scene. He added that he takes "full responsibility"and "paid [his] dues."

Lee had started all 11 games this season, compiling 73 tackles, three sacks, three passes defended and two forced fumbles. The second-year player has been up and down versus the run this season and struggled in space against the pass. Lee has been at his best playing downhill as a pass rusher.

3 sacks and 50 tackles and Darron Lee feels entitled to jump on Mo Wilks bum train.

At least Wilk had the sense to wait until after his 2nd contract.

Had to be more to this for Lee to be a healthy scratch Sunday.

And by the way, since when is a day off with full pay considered "paying you dues" as Lee put it.

It's not really meant to be a punishment for him as much as a punishment for the other 52 guys. "Because you were late now you don't give us the best chance to win." Generally players don't want to be the guy that cost their team a game because of a selfish action. Basically uses peer pressure to try and prevent the player from being late. Didn't work will Wilk but he may see the writing on the wall already, Lee is still young so hopefully he learns from it.

Not sure if I can buy that interpretation but with pros these days who knows.
