If we win out we'd be in good shape. But with road games against the Saints and Pats left I'd say 6-10 or 7-9 is staring us the face.

Maddening that in a year where the AFC sucks and we easily could have made the playoffs if we were able to finish a few close games we're going to go 7-9, miss the franchise QB and the postseason. Just about the Jetsiest season ever.

Disagree, a good GM finds a way to get the player he wants in the draft within reason forget Darnold or Rosen but there are other decent QB's in this draft that will be available.

Mike Maccagnan wouldnt pay the price for Alvin Kamara drafted by the Saints and look how that turned out, hopefully he learned a lesson.

If we win out, we'd probably still not make it, because the Jags and Ravens keep winning.  The Jags and Titans are both 8-4, one will win the division, the other takes the WC.  Then you have the Ravens, who play the Steelers, Browns, Colts, and Bengals.  They win at least two that takes them to 9-7 as well, and realistically, they could win 3 without much trouble.  Chargers are 6-6 and could potentially win out, though, we play them, so someone has to lose.  Raiders will probably not win 3/4, so maybe they are finished.  But, Buffalo plays Miami twice and the Colts.  So, at 6-6, they're in okay shape too.

maybe it's a jetsy season but you have to admit it's going to keep you sucked in for next season.  assuming they do win 2 or 3 more, they will fall out of the high draft pick scenario and move onto the vet qb one.  and you also have to admit that there is some promise of making the playoffs with a decent qb next season.

as for what record they could have had, yep a couple of games were given away and we should all hope they will win those games next season.

I mean, I watch every season. I'm a lifer.

Not disagreeing that the development of young players/culture shift has been a positive. It's just frustrating that we're likely not going to land a top tier QB or make the playoffs (when there was basically nobody in our path in a crap AFC.)

We can only hope whichever young QB we land (Mayfield, Jackson... Allen) end up being good.

i think the whole definition of a top tier qb needs some modification.  not that darnold or rosen might just be great qb's but then you see guys like stafford not putting his team over the top or even matty ice suffering through really bad seasons.  or how about dalton?  this is why, imo, the best thing that can come from this season is whether or not bowles/mac are keepers for next season and beyond.  the bowles launch clock moved back a couple of ticks with yesterday's win.  it's not like he's out of the woods and we all wish his defenses are better than we've seen but we've also seen an offense that is way more competent than it has in quite a few seasons and it can't just be mccown. it's about playing as a team.  so after this season mac will get a qb.  hack can't be red shirted forever and petty will be in his final year.  mccown will be one year older. there are quite a few ways they can go and if the coaching is right the team will be right.

We have 4 games left against Denver, NO, the Chargers and NEP. We might actually have a better chance vs the Patriots than LAC and the Saints. Denver could be a W but they could be really up for the game and it's at home and not easy to win there. Can we get in with 9 Ws. This season it's possible. In 2015 we won 10 and did not get in. But one thing is for sure.  We can't get in with 6 or 7 Ws which is probably what we will finish with.

We have to win out. Plus Baltimore would have to lose 2. They play bengals, pitt, and the browns and the colts. I don’t know who would get the tie-breaker. In other words, it would take a miracle ha.

Best afc record in the case of a tie breaker. We have 3 AFC teams and 1 NFC left to play. All theirs opponents left are AFC opponents so they have a better chance, naturally, of winding up with a worse AFC record based off attempts ...nonetheless they need to lose two and we need to win out. Tough to do tbh.

Not really. Would be much more excited if we had actually answered some questions at QB rather than winning useless games with a 38 year old JAG that foes NOTHING to help this team

i disagree about mccown doing nothing to help the team.  he gives them hope on offense that they will win. i'm not saying that either hack or petty don't but it's pretty clear he has good command of the team.  that alone keeps them all on the same page with regard to plays.  and winning teams continue to win.  granted their record isn't great nor is it likely they will make the playoffs but not winning would be a disaster.  consider the alternatives.  i'm a fan just like everyone else and would like to see petty or hack start if only to see how the jets should approach the off season. but i don't see either guy bringing the same game presence to the team.  i'm also not so worried about them getting a qb if that's what they want.  there are many avenues to getting one, it all depends on what they're willing to pay.

Well bengals loss last night can’t hurt. We need to root for Ravens, Titans, Jaguars losses as well as the afc west teams and the Bills. We own the tie breaker against Jags and Chiefs, so that also can’t hurt. But Jets need to win out and need a lot of things to break their way in regards to other teams losing. But hey, why not us right?
