With more to come per Kim JOnes.

First time the Giants have fired a coach in season since 1976.

The odds of this to happen to him a year after making the postseason were huge.

It also showed the Giants, like the Jets alot, pay attention to the fans, because that's the only real reason for doing this now

They did it for his own good. It would have been ugly on Sunday if McAdoo were on the sidelines.

If you told somebody before the season that a coach in NY football was going to be fired mid season, everybody would have said Bowles. Amazing

And if you told someone before the season that a NY team was going to have a very high draft pick, everyone would've said the Jets.

The Giants always have the right idea.

Ain’t got what it takes? Bye. See ya. No waiting around. No just give them another year. No all he needs is weaponz or a QB or a defense or a better coordinator. That’s how you do it.

First time they've done this in 40 years so they clearly dont always have the right idea

It's nice to see the Giants come down to the level of the other bad franchises.  The guy was hired after the former coach missed the playoffs 4 straight years and 6 of 7, he led them to the playoffs and 11-5 his first year then doesn't even make year 2?  I don't even think the Jets would do something like this, all b/c the fans and media which bashed Eli for years got on their social media soapbox and cried for the mediocre Eli who has now seen 2 HCs fired in less than 2 years.  This is going to be fun to watch.

He was gone after season anyway. Mara sounded very pissed how he screwed up eli thing. Sounded like Bendo didnt do what they wanted. He couldn’t even get benching a guy right ha. Yes the fans do matter to the giants though. They need to put Eli back in to ensure they get the # 2 pick ha

Jerry Reese gets the boot in New York as well

In this case, “plural” means the top two jobs in the Giants football operation.

Via Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network, General Manager Jerry Reese has been let go as well as coach Ben McAdoo, making it a clean sweep.

Reese has been on the job since 2007, replacing Ernie Accorsi in that post.

But recent years have seen declining home-grown talent on the roster, and last year’s splurge on defensive free agents was clearly a desperate move.

It bought them a year and a playoff berth, but the Giants are not in a good spot for the long haul, lacking a young quarterback to build around or substantial salary cap room.
