Farve was incredible in 09. We were stuck with a last ranked qb but had everything else. Best d, line, Rbs.

Before Favre hurt his shoulder we had just beaten a good Titan team on the road. It kills me to think what 2009 could have been had Favre stayed 1 more year with a full camp & that oline.

I know, don’t do it to yourself ha. We didn’t even need a great yr from a qb like farve. We just didn’t need 1 of the worst ( Sanchez )

Too bad we didnt have Josh in 2009. Dude is a team guy, tough, and that group NEEDED a veteran QB, we might have had a few home playoff games. Sometimes players just never end up in the best places for their careers. I remember him tearing up the Jets when he was a Brown & he tried to leap over a defender & got helicoptered and fumbled and knocked out of the game. No way we win that game if he didn't get hurt. Timing & where they end up is everything for players. Someone being coached under Belichick gets a hell of a lot more than someone being coached by Jack Del Rio, or Herman Edwards for that matter, ask Jericho Cotchery.

In 2009, Josh McCown was a terrible backup QB who played in 1 game that year and was 1-6 for 2 yards in it. He’s having an average 2017. Let’s not make it anything other than what it is.

Lol average ? He is top 15 qb right now. Remember we are jets, our qbs are usually ranked in the mid to late 20s ha

Seriously? Why do any of you cavemen think a FREE AGENT quarterback is going even consider the Jets as anything more than a drinking game.

Seriously. Anyone worth their salt on sundays is looking at DEN, JAX, ARZ, etc etc. Not our sh*t show with no Oline and a disney movie's worth of weapons on offense.

Now that the giants have the #2, assuming they stick around there. It’s highly unlikely giants being him back. Darnold or Rosen most likely would be the better option than Eli next yr at the fraction of the cost.

McCown has had a better yr than Eli no question. Eli has done a lot in his career, but Father Time caught up with him a lot quicker than it has to McCown. Not that Eli could ever scramble. No question McCown is the better qb for 2 million vs Eli’s current 22 million salary. When the giants cut him, he will be a FA and probably get him for 10- 12 mil. Would you take Eli or McCown in that scenario ? It’s likely we won’t be drafting a qb in 1st round, especially one who is going to be ready out of the gate.

I don't really like Eli, I think he's been terribly over rated for years.

At this point, I don't think he's much better than McCown at all, and he'll cost 10million more per season, minimum.

Had Favre stayed & played behind that 2009/2010 Oline we might have won a f*cking Super Bowl by playing some home playoff games!

That Oline was incredible. Dbrick- Fanaca- Mangold- Moore- Woody! Holy sh*t! One of the best Jet olines ever. A top 10 ever in the NFL! Thomas Jones had zero wiggle & ran for a ton of yards. That line was amazing!

The 2008 OL was probably the best of those 3 years so throw that excuse out the window.

again, Favre never wanted to be here and he played like it. If we got 2009 Favre then we have a chance to win a few playoff games before he chokes but we didn't get that version. we got the guy who didn't care, the guy known for playing through pain using the injury excuse.

Just b/c certain QBs put up #s doesn't mean they are going to win.  Look at someone like Philip Rivers who walked into the most talented team in the league and only made one conf title game and to get there his BACKUP led the GW TD drive in the div rd after Rivers left the game w/ an injury.  In the 2009 div rd Rivers had homefield, a bye and the more talented team yet he couldn't beat a team where Mark Sanchez was the QB.

What r you talking about? Favre played well in a lot of games in 2008 before he hurt his arm.

No he didn't.  He played well in about 3 or 4 games.  Arizona, at Buffalo, at NE, at Ten.  Other than that he did very little all season long and was outplayed in games by QBs like Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyler Thigpen, Seneca Wallace, Shaun Hill and more.

Crazy that a drunken Favre who didn’t know Schitty’s plays and was busy texting Jenn Sterger was by far our best qb of this century

what's crazy is that some Jet fans THINK he as good when in reality he was terrible and sabotaged what could have been a big season.

Favre was good first 11 games of the 2008 season until he got hurt— that’s simply a fact

And even with a broken throwing arm he was still better than Kellen Clunkers and Bear Rattail

He won’t be traded, He is going to be cut. Who in their right mind would trade for a 22 million dollar broken down qb lol.

Easy: Tom Coughlin

But IF Eli got cut, I think the Jets would have to try to sign Eli.  Why not?  We have no shot at drafting or trading up for any of the good qbs in this draft

If Eli was a free agent the jets would be stupid not to offer him a 3 year deal

Lol what ? Eli is ranked around the 22th ranked qb in the league. McCown 12th. Eli has been on a steady decline, he can’t move and our line sucks too. McCown May be few yrs older but Eli looks 10 yrs older. McCown surprisely can move and scramble. Eli cannot. I know he is just a name now,  it Nobody is giving him a 3 yr deal, At least not guarteeed ha. And nobody is trading for Eli and paying him 22 mil lol. He should get away from the giants though. Maybe he can do decent with a team with a decent line. He won’t get that in either NY team ha.

That is not a fact, the facts are he was mostly bad the first 11 games.  He had the one game against AZ(who got smoked each time they came east that season in reg season) then he had his only good stretch of games before the wheels came off when it got cold.

His arm was fine, he was doing the same dumb things late in the year he did all year.  he never wanted to be here, never put in the work to get better and it showed.

he said "right mind", Coughlin isn't stupid.  he has a young Eli Manning right now.

why would the Jets sign a guy to a 3 year deal who has been mediocre/bad most of the last 5-6 years and has been worse than McCown has been this year? we'd be stupid to offer Eli a deal over McCown and to offer either a 3 yr deal.

So bad he was 8-3 despite not knowing the playbook with 20tds 12ints

Bortles is a young Eli now? Lol

Eli has had the worst offensive line in the entire nfl in front of him 2 years in a row and still put up decent passing stats.  If you think another wasted draft pick by Mac like Petty or Hack can do that God Bless
