Bowles Doesn’t Rule out Playing Wilkerson Sunday

Brian Costello of the New York Post is reporting that Jets head coach Todd Bowles was asked about the possibility of defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson playing this Sunday and to the surprise of many, the head coach did not rule it out.

As you can see from Costello’s tweet, Wilkerson was a full participant in practice at Florham Park.

Wilkerson eventually met with the media and acknowledged the fact that he let his teammates down, but also added he felt he had earned “every penny” of his $18 million per season contract.  Should Wilkerson play and suffer a significant injury, the team will be stuck with his $18 million price tag next season.

The GM or owner has to intervene here and not allow this dimwitted coach to make a potentially disastrous decision which would further undermine his ability to effectively coach this team.  How is this even an option? Even the most staunch defenders of Bowles cannot justify this stupidity.

The GM can't. Thanks Woody!

Chris Johnson-

You will be the laughing stock of all National sports if you are stuck with Wilkerson and his cap value next year if he gets hurt this year.

If I recall rightly, it was in one of the last games where he broke his leg in 2015.  Lightning can strike twice in the same place.

Bowles refusing to give any real information to the media.  How does this still surprise anyone?

It's stupid because it should be a done decision. "Wilkerson will be inactive for the remaining two games" why? "Coaches decision" That's all he's gotta say. But no, he's probably thinking about playing him like a damn idiot.

Maybe in his defense he has read all of the articles and realizes that if he keeps playing he is going to damage his brain and the rest of his body, so he has decided to check out.

That is the only credible explanation for how he has performed.

Or maybe he is a worthless sack of doo doo and took the money and ran.

You know this guy is going to go out there Sunday and after two or three series he will be limping off and be out for the season. Maybe just to spite the Jets. How friggin dumb will it be if this guy takes the field?

If Bowles insists on playing Wilk against SD, Macc should release him from his contract that instant.  He is the GM, supposedly in charge of compiling and managing the roster.

Not in charge of who plays though.
