Josh Rosen will be feeling blue if the Browns snag the top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The star UCLA quarterback would prefer to play for the Giants over Cleveland , according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and "would be hesitant to come out in next year's NFL Draft" if the Browns get the No. 1-overall pick as expected.

The Browns and Giants will be strong contenders to take quarterbacks at the top of next year's draft. Rosen is the early favorite to be the No. 1 pick if he declares for the draft.

The Browns (0-14) are currently in position to get the top pick for the second straight year. They will clinch it Sunday with a loss at the Bears or a loss at the Steelers in Week 17. The Giants (2-12) are guaranteed the second pick if they lose out, but they could still get it with one or two wins in the final two weeks of the regular season depending on other results. The Giants play at the Cardinals on Sunday.

From Schefter's report:

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen would prefer to play for the Giants over the Browns and would be hesitant to come out in next year's NFL draft if he knew that Cleveland was going to take him with the No. 1 overall pick, according to league sources familiar with the situation.

This is hardly the first time that a player has expressed concern about landing in Cleveland, though that will not dissuade new Browns general manager John Dorsey from taking the player he believes is the best fit for his franchise.

Privately, Rosen has expressed concern about winding up in Cleveland and would rather be with a more stable franchise, such as the Giants.

Rosen plans to make a decision with his parents about his future after UCLA plays Kansas State in the Cactus Bowl on Tuesday in nearby Phoenix. Possession of the top pick in the 2018 draft will be determined by New Year's Day (and likely much sooner). Rosen, who has eligibility remaining, has until January 15 to declare early for the draft.

Rosen is currently in concussion protocol and has not been cleared to play in the bowl game, but he told reporters he hopes to play Tuesday.

COuld you imagine if both of them went back to school. What an indictment on the Browns it would be.

This will just sway Cleveland towards Darnold based on difference in injury history and attitude. Rosen IS the safest QB pick in the draft. It would be awesome to get him..though I feel like Darnold has the IT factor.

What a coward. Whatever happened to MAKING a team a contender, rather than avoiding bad teams?

John Elway and Eli Manning did the same thing.

I guess they believe the Browns coming 0-16 season is troublesome.

Also the money for a top pick is drastically less than it used to be.

Eli did it and he has 2 rings..I’m just saying. Not disagreeing.

Browns uniforms are trash, they haven’t seen the playoffs since shortly after Y2K.They have 2 wins in like 30 game. They have tarnished their name and brand beyond repair. We aren’t even that bad. At least we have seen the playoffs.

Run, run, run, run (4x)
You better make your face up in
Your favorite disguise
With your button down lips and your
Roller blind eyes
With your empty smile
And your hungry heart
Feel the bile rising from your guilty past
With your nerves in tatters
When the cockleshell shatters
And the hammers batter
Down the door
You better run
Run, run, run, run (4x)
You better run all day
And run all night
And keep your dirty feelings
Deep inside. And if you're
Takin' your girlfriend
Out tonight
You better park the car
Well out of sight
'Cos if they catch you in the back seat
Trying to pick her locks

Say Rosen declares and doesn't want to go to the Browns. Could the Giants, for the second time in their history have a drafted QB force a trade to them and reap the benefits for years to come?

No because I think the Giants, along with many other teams, would prefer Darnold over Rosen if they had the choice.

Injury list diva Rosen thinks he's going #1? He's the overhyped QB most likely to slip, IMO.

Rosen:

1. Bledsoe's arm, Cham Bradington's body and hasn't taken an NFL hit yet.

2. Uncoachable unlikable prima b!tch. More attitude than gratitude. On display as we speak.

3. More choke than win. An individual stat machine. We said winner not whiner. Please say "no" Jets.

For what it's worth, Paul Dottino was on the FAN Thursday with Joe and Evan, and he thinks the Giants really like Davis Webb and will auction off the pick. Wouldn't usually think twice about a reporter's opinion like that, but this guy has been covering the Giants since Moses was a baby. Thinks the Giants wouldn't mind going down to like 6-10 in the first round, plus many other picks from whomever wants to move up. Evan suggested the Jets, but he said we don't have enough. Mentioned the Bills as one potential partner because of their 2 1st rounders. But they are going to be in the mid to late teens, at best. Our pick, probably 7-10, plus our two 2nds and next years first might not be a bad deal.

I hate when players do this. To be fair it's only a report but still. I don't like when players try to dictate which team they want to go to. The Giants have a great historic organization, I get why he wants to play for them but if the Browns became good that would make the league better IMO. Players should just go where they are drafted and keep quiet about it in a perfect world. The advantage Rosen does have though is that he can stay in school.

I just hate when you hear this about teams like the Giants who had this happen to them with Manning. The consensus top QB in the draft wanted to go play for them so the teams involved made it happen. If this happens again with Rosen it will be frustrating as a fan of a team who can never find a long term answer at the position.

From the value charts standpoint we have enough. Both Bills picks are in the 20’s. It would take a few more picks than that.

crazy but maybe not that crazy. Dorsey is apparently a big mayfield fan so that would be in in the conversation should that scenario unfold... it would screw us out of an option and ruin our draft IMO

Exactly lmao. We need one of these two guys. And if that becomes impossible then we need Mayfield.

And if he's on the board when we pick, I'm running to the stage.
