Cousins or trade up to 3

Am I wrong in assuming these are the only options for the Jets. Let’s assume jets draft 8 which is a safe bet at this point.  Would you rather a or b?

A) jets sign cousins. Can draft best player on board at 8 and adress orher issues with two second round picks and sacrifice no future 1st round picks.

b jets don’t sign cousins deciding to get qb in Draft. Browns and giants have secured 1 and 2 and don’t see either trading out with prospects like Rosen and Darnold. That leaves the colts at 3 who many say are willing to trade but hold up, who says luck will ever be the same and Brisby is well ok but not a franchise qb is he? Seems to me they can ask a fortune from a team like the jets if we want to go get our qb (mayfield or Allen). I would assume the trade takes a future 1st rounder and def one of our second round picks at least.

Am I off here? I don’t know about you but a is starting to seem more appealing to me.

Why not start Hack at QB for 2018.

Draft Derwin James in round 1 and draft either/both Mason Rudolph or Drew Lock in the second.

This way we save on the big bucks to sign Cousins and we have hope one of the QBs develop...especially if we go QB back to back in the second.

I think the Broncos are the favorites for Allen. Elway and his associate seemed to be the only GM at the Idaho Bowl to see Allen.

It was reported that the Jets had done very immersive research into him, and he kind of fits that mold of a QB.

I wouldn’t sign Cousins. He won’t be young in 3 years. And we pick 7th currently not 8th. Again, Giants have NOT secured #2 yet. They probably will, but it’s not set in stone. We could be picking 5 for all we know. Anyways..i’d draft Mayfield and address O-Line in FA plus maybe burn one of the second rounders if the guy is worth it. I’d be putting all my resources into offense other than CB/Edge..but those two can be FA investments. Yeah, give me the young Heisman winner over A 30 year old Cousins.

We have our two safeties...idk if you were trying to be funny?

Ok let’s assume we get up to 6. Do we trade up to 3 or roll the dice? Moreover if we trade up what do you think asking price is?

Isn't this a marketing technique?

Probably would have to trade up with Denver lurking and also probably being slotted higher than us. I imagine from 6? It only takes our 2017 1st, 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd/3rd and maybe one more lower throw in. Idk man..it’s hard to gauge a estimated price tag because you have to factor in other teams bidding for it. Though I can’t imagine many bid other than Denver, themselves.

If Darnold stays in school, this would be brilliant

Why not start Hack in NE next week so we can get a sneak preview of him.

That’s fair but looking at the trubiskt trade I think it cost more. And for a team that’s trying to “build through the draft” that’s rough

It is rough but we do have 90 mill in cap space. If we get good young guys who can really play football than I feel like this year can be our exception. I feel like when you have so much cap to make moves than you can afford to have less picks this year in order to go get your guy because there are more options to add your supporting cast.

Yea it’s encouraging to have so much money. Now we need to fill in the gaps. 2018 should be a jets playing for the division type of year in my eyes

If we play this offseason to perfection than yes. Because Brady is getting really close to being done. I can see it in his throws, every snap.

You know what the last thing I want Big Mac to do is?  Trade resources for him to take a QB.  Look at what homeboy has brought us thus far and your comfortable enough to give him the green light to trade picks away to get his take on what would be the 3rd best QB in the class?

Hellllllll nooooooooooooo.

If these are the only options, sign Cousins.  I think Cousins would be great here.  The Redskins would be a 2 win team without him.

But we all know how this will go down...1st RD BAP, 2nd RD BAP, 3rd RD QB Flier, resign Joshy.

Ehh.. Cousins is getting too old for a big long term contract. He’s 30. 3 or 4 years isn’t a lot to be spending that type of money for. Go get your guy in this stacked draft. My opinion on Macc is severely different from yours so I understand your thought process..but I need to see him grab a QB early. That simple. And if his job depends on it than he will.

Agree we don't need a 2 year fix we need a franchise fix with a young rookie QB who will lead this team for years to come.

He turns 30 in August.  QB's play into their late 30's on the reg these days.  Cousins could easily play at this level for the next 5-6 years (maybe longer if he hits up TB12 and gets that life juice).  He would give you the best QB play the Jets have ever seen in their pathetic history of QB play during that stretch.

Yes, the preferred method would be to draft your future franchise QB.  The only problem is, Big Mac is a total blockhead and I don't trust for 1 split second him trading assets to get his guy, let alone making the right choice if the Jets stood pat with their pick.

You saw him grab a QB early and he has been kept in the basement tied to the heater with a bucket of water and saltine crackers for the past season and foreseeable future.
