He should play but on the road in NE against a Patriots team fighting for playoff seeding is not ideal for Hackenberg. He might pull a Peterman and that is something Mac does not want to see happen to his guy.

The Jets will make a splash at QB in the draft or free agency, shortly thereafter  they could also release him and it will be mostly a non-story drowned out by the big addition.

Or he could just as well end up the the #2 QB next year if the Jets sign a FA like Cousins.

I think it's unlikely Hack is on the team next year.  

If he can't beat out Petty then he has no right being on an NFL roster - even 3rd string.

If Hackenberg was a lame horse, they Mac would have already taken him behind the barn and shot him.  If Mac survives until next season (which I'm not sure he will), Hack will be the #3 again and be as far away from the field as possible until his rookie contract runs out. A new GM / coach might unceremoniously cut him.

not sure how anybody would want mac back after seeing this awful team he put together -each year getting worse -if given the choice between our roster and any other in the league I would take ours last-the browns are more talented and forget the fact they have a boat load of picks(they may waste them cause they are the browns but they still have better talent now

Zero chance of that. There is no chance we’re going into next year with Hack an injury away from being the starter. He can’t even get meaningless snaps over a 100% completely incompetent Petty. Petty has no business being on an NFL football field and Hack can’t even get a shot past him. I used to think the coaching staff was just stubborn as hell, but given we’ve all now seen how bad Petty is I’m inclined to believe their actions that Hack just plain sucks and should never have been drafted.

This - taking Hack in the 2nd round really caused me to question Mac's ability to judge talent - horrible, horrible pick

Agitating you is priceless.  You're right we're here for multiple threads on the same topic.  Should have checked what can be pointed out or not with you.  What we can point out needs to be cleared with you.  Your logic.
