IF you had to choose

Which rebuild would you most likely be supportive of and why:

OPTION 1

Jets move up to #1 and draft Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold:

It costs them: This Years #1 (6) This years #2 (55) and NEXT year's #1

With their second pick (#38) they draft OC Frank Ragnow

OPTION 2

Jets sign Alex Smith/Kirk Cousins in Free Agency

With their first pick #6 they draft Bradley Chubb or Harold Landry

with their 2nd pick (38) the Jets draft OC Frank Ragnow

with there other 2nd pick (55) the Jets draft QB Mason Rudolph/Luke Falk/Riley Ferguson

OPTION 3

Jets stay put at take what they get, whether it be BPA or taking a shot at Baker Mayfield/Lamar Jackson, or whoever else is left for a QB

They then use one pick for an OC, and one pick for whichever RB/Edge Rusher is best fit.

All options still give the Jets an opportunity to draft another RB in the 3rd or 4th round.

Option 1 potentially solves our QB situation for the next decade, but it hurts the rebuilding process by costing us two high draft picks (MINIMUM)

Option 2 solves our pass-rushing dilemma, and offers a stop-gap decent QB option, but rolls the dice on yet another QB developing.

Option 3 potentially solves QB issue, if you think Mayfield or Jackson or whoever is worth drafting that high.

Both options have us drafting Frank Ragnow.  We NEED to address this problem, and Ragnow, Billy Pryce, or Isaiah Wynn will be there with our first 2nd rounder.  I just am using this in the hopes it will be Ragnow.

I would do a coalition of Option 2 and 3. I would sign a FA QB and draft one high.

If' it's McCown and Mayfield, fine. People might whine about Mayfield not starting immediately, but I don't think he's a plug and play QB.

ERROR

Wake the hell up!!!!!!!

If Mike Maccagnan is that DUMB to sign an old journeyman NFL losing QB then he is part of the problem here and not the solution

TB will play the old vet has been over any rookie, its what TB does over and over again.

TB cannot handle a rookie QB he is too concerned about the D

For this case, I want that to happen. I dont think you can start Baker Mayfield right away. Maybe except for Rosen, I dont think you can start any of these QBs right away

Won't that be the case if he drafts Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield?  There is NO way the Jets don't sign some kind of Vet as insurance, and if that is the case, the vet will probably start anyway.

Option 2 would be my preference.  Neither Rosen nor Darnold will prove to be worth the #1/#2 overall picks.

I wonder if you would like option 3 that I forgot about :(

I am not sure I am sold on Baker Mayfield at 6, and I am a fan.  Same goes for Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, or anyone else at 6.  Then again, we have to take a chance at some point.

For the record, I think I would prefer option #3, but man would it be tempting if we sign a vet, and Bradley Chubb was sitting there at #6.

Give me option 3

i want Baker Mayfield

Get Billy Price with the first #2, Get Sony Michel with the second #2

SPEND big money on the absolute BEST supporting cast possible. I mean really open up the check book for very good-elite players to put us over the top and watch Mayfield grow with real professionals and players around him.

Now Option 3 isn’t for everyone but if you believe he can turn into something special like I do, you are on board with this.

Alternate option:

Cousins, Le’Veon Bell, and Ryan Jensen in FA

BPA at 6, if its a QB then **** off you’re taking a QB

OT

OL

RB

with the first four picks.

I vote for this one!

What makes you think the Steelers let Bell walk?

I think all three options provide potential improvement and can work out.  Ideally, at the cost you mentioned, I'd move up for Rosen.  I think he's the best of the bunch and could start day 1.  The A&M game made me think of Marino and I would like that excitement for a change.

However, I think the cost may be higher than that, unless we can get him at #3.  If so, then I'm good with 2 or 3 only if we bring in Cousins, I'd want McGlinchey with the first pick.  The OL needs to be addressed with multiple picks after years of neglect.  Ragnow (or Price if he were still there) in round 2 for sure though.

Option 1 would be my preference if it's exactly as you stated - but it would cost more than you've stated to get to 1.

Option 3 would be my major preference if you knew you were getting Mayfield.  Otherwise it's too risky.

Option 2 - I hate the idea of bringing in another 30+ year QB to be our savior.  10 wins and sneaking in as a wild-card is just not good enough anymore.  Kirk Cousins and Alex Smith are not winning a Super Bowl - it's just another band-aid to keep the team respectable.

I'm tired of mediocrity.  Roll the dice and bring in our own franchise QB.

I may be mistaken, but didn't you recently say on here that you don't follow college football?

You're not mistaken at all.  I don't generally watch minor league football, no.

But I do my research when it comes to scouting the draft-to-come.  As an example, I watched every snap of the Rose Bowl.

I could live with a hybrid plan of 2 and 3.

There are a few situations that I'd be okay with not in any particular order:

1) Cousins + Jensen + Nelson/Chubb + 2nd or 3rd round RB

2) Alex Smith for a 3rd round pick (I think he'll cost more though) + Jensen + BPA at QB at #6 + Pass Rusher and RB in the 2nd

3) 2nd tier QB with high upside on a Glennon type deal maybe a McCarron/Bridgewater/Bortles/Keenum + Jensen + BPA at QB at #6 + double dip at Pass Rusher + RB in 2nd or 3rd round

4) Sign a plethora of FA and then trading up to get the best QB in this draft.

IMO Jensen is a gem that we should immediately get and I'd like to target 2 CBs in FA regardless of which route we take. All those options are fine in my book.

I love Baker. I can't see the Jets betting on a physical outlier at pick No. 6 overall. That's the debate every FO has to have now—how early do we bet our jobs on this kid?

This would be the perfect time to get a promising QB and start him from day one.  McBow is playing with house money.  There is no ******* reason why they should have been extended, but maybe they can turn it around by doing the exact opposite of what they have done so far.  Draft offense, develop a QB, make good in game timeouts preferably in the last 2 minutes, keep the foot on the accelerator when they are up.

Imagine, they just have to do the opposite of what they have done for the past 3 years and we will improve.   Maybe that was explained to them before they got their gifts.

Option 3. Because of his size, I can't see Mayfield going earlier than 6 despite all the current excitement. I don't think Rosen will stay healthy, I think Darnold needs another year at school.

I can tolerate another year of Kumbaya and Josh McCown's infectious positivity if they draft a qb at 6. I'd like Mayfield but I'm not so naive to think that they are automatically thinking qb round 1.

McC did not have the cajones to draft Mahones...I would not be shocked to see him go free agent qb / defense again in round one and pick another "developmental" qb in round two or beyond. Apparently we learned today in his press conference that quarterbacks develop at different speeds. We will need multiple year time lapse photography to see the progress of the Hack.

Mac and Bowles seem old school ball control, "defense wins championships" kind of guys.
