Ryan Jensen - UFA Center

Impending free agent Ravens C Ryan Jensen intends to test the open market.

"It’s been an awesome five years and I hope to be back here, but I’m going to see where life takes me," Jensen said. An every-week starter for the first time in his five-year career, Jensen solidified the pivot for the Ravens in 2017. He we clearing lanes for the Ravens' potent rushing attack. Turning 27 in May, Jensen would be wise to pursue every last dollar.

This guy could really fill a hole on the offensive line and let the team focus on other areas in the second round.  As a former late round pick, he is obviously looking for a huge payday, which we can afford, so pay him whatever he wants and move on to fill other holes

This seems like the kind of player the Jets should be opening their purse strings to.

That he's only had one really good year gives me pause, but it would be nice to upgrade a position and have the ability to go elsewhere during the draft.

QB and C should both be signed in free agency.  Not going to lie and say I broke down Jensen's play

but if he's good bring him in.  With 100 million in cap space it will be nice to swing that hammer and

use it to our advantage

There are some really good centers in this draft (Cole, Ragnow, Price, etc).

I’d rather take one of those guys in the 2nd round over paying $6+ million a year for a guy who is essentially a one year wonder.

True but no sure thing they will be available in the 2nd round.  One of Ragnow or Cole should be but it's a little risky.

I think the C on the NYG is also a FA and not too bad (i.e. upgrade from W Johnson).

I like the Giants center too, but he has had a history of injuries, although he alluded to the Giants putting him on IR even though he was  healthy.

I like Ragnow too and he will be there in the second round, I just like the fact of using money to fill a hole with a proven veteran so as not to be forced to pick a particular position.

That’s fair, so where do you want to spend the $100 mil?

developing OL is very difficult now with no practice time.  OL is the perfect place to spend the big $$

Cousins and a legit #1 CB like Malcolm Butler/Trumaine Johnson.

Then throw $6-7 million a year at a quality NT like Dontari Poe and use the rest to re-sign some of our own guys like ASJ and Demario Davis.

OL is good value in free agency. If you can sign a solid starter at $6-8M/year, it's a good move. Other positions of need -and the Jets have a lot of them- cost anywhere from $15+M/year (CB, WR, pass rusher, maybe even RB), to $30M/year (QB). Filling those safety jobs with free agents and drafting those premium positions make the most economic sense.

I think we'd sign Jensen before Cousins, need to show him that protecting him will be a priority. I'm not sure I'd get on board Poe because I didn't feel like that was an area of weakness but I like all your other ideas.

i agree.  whether or not jensen is the right guy is the debate.  is he another mawae?  maybe not but he must've been doing something right to keep flacco upright.

Bla you really nailed it with Jensen. One minute into free agency the Jets should announce his signing locking up the center position for next 5 years. He even looks a little like Mangold! The Ravens have only $10-12 million in cap space and many holes to fill. If we are going to draft a QB then it is doubly important to sign him as a veteran center can dramatically accelerate a QB's development through making the protection calls, etc.

Price looks great but he expects to be a first round draft pick. This is a position that will cost 1/6 as much in the draft, so Mac needs to figure out if he can wait until rd 2 to draft one.  They will be gone by round 3.  I think teams learned that lesson with Elflein.
