We all have a friend who drives an old beater because it's somewhat reliable and too much work to get a new one. That's the Bengals and Marvin Lewis.

This is pretty much it.  Bengals ownership though about the lack of candidates who'd be worth it and interested in the job and said, "Screw it, let's just bring back Marvin."

Cardinals seem like a stubborn dumb franchise too. Now that Arians is gone, maybe they need Todd Bowles back more then ever ? Wouldn’t it be cool to bring back one of your old beaters cars you thought was gone forever ?? can we sell it ? ?

It does help take the sting out of extending ours.  Misery loves company.  We were not the only stupid organization to retain an idiot.

No it doesn't. I could give a rats a$$ about the Cincinnati Bengals. I am praying nightly that Arizona is stupider than Florham Park and offers up some incentive to ship him away from here.

Will take a 2nd rd pick, and ship back Bowles and a 5th. Mac’s 5th round pick wouldn’t be worth a dam anyway

Unitedpoopshutes: keeping maccccc and Bowles is good for continuity

also unitedpoopshutes: look at the bengals keeping Marvin Lewis, they so stupid

To be fair, you know these are two different situations.  15 years to 3 years is no comparison.

To be fair...If they canned ML who could they have hired.....Jeff Fisher?

Not sure if there was a better coach.  However, I think hiring a first year coach and changing the culture there is better than continuing with the same that hasn’t produced a playoff victory in the 15 years hes been there.

So you feel better being lumped together with the bengals & the browns...  sad...  really sad... & you wonder why this franchise is the way it is.

I knew there was no more of a sure thing when I heard about this than there would be those trying to point to some sort of parallel between the two teams' situations.  I can say with utmost confidence, barring a series of miracles, we will not be experiencing another decade and a half of Bowles.  I actually understand the dislike of many for Bowles, but his retention is based on some belief that he is the right guy who can be involved in rebuilding this team, misguided or not.  This Lewis situation is nothing but outright laziness by the Bengals.

I assure those of you trying to paint us poor Jets fans as always being the ultimate victims, would not agree that this situation would still be exactly the same in over a decade from now, even if some of those years did include the occasional awful playoff appearances to help earn the fantastic honor of being the single worst playoff coach in league history.

I'm not even defending Bowles, because I would have had no problem if he were fired this year, but this Lewis deal has to be the single dumbest coaching decision I've ever seen.
