ASJ: Marqise Lee Should Be In Seattle

in light of the article I posted yesterday where we reportedly offered ASJ an extension he then rejected. One could assume his intentions may be to move to Seattle in March. Why would you lobby for a player to go there randomly?

Free agency is still two months away for the Seattle Seahawks but they already have players recruiting free agents to their team for them; here's the weird thing about it.

It's not a Seahawks player doing the recruiting. It's not even a dude on the same coast doing the recruiting.

No, it's actually a member of the New York Jets attempting to fit a player on a completely different team into the Seahawks organization. And if you're thinking wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, good guess but very much wrong. No, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is oddly enough trying to help Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee find his fit in life.

Marquise Lee in a Seahawks UNI next year super underrated talent!

— A. Seferian-Jenkins (@Aesj88) January 7, 2018

Both players will be free agents this offseason; so perhaps Seferian-Jenkins, who hails from Washington and went to school at the University of Washington, is planning a homecoming and wants Lee, who's still playing playoff games for the Jaguars mind you, to come with him.

The tea leaves are starting to show that plausible. Rumors abound that current big play tight end Jimmy Graham may be on the outs; although head coach Pete Carrollstated already they've opened up discussions with Graham and want him back. From his end, he's been quiet on his NFL future thus far.

(The Seahawks season is officially over but the offseason insanity now begins. Don't MISS any updates on contract situations, retirement decisions and more, as they try to reclaim their glory in 2018.

personally I say good riddance then. He disappeared after Week 7 anyway. Didn’t Sterling flash good production in the final two games? Sign another young competitive guy to play with Neil Sterling and call it a day...it’s really not going to be that hard to replace this guy. I just find it hilarious how he was just saying “I want to be a Jet forever!” ..yeah nice try..Wilkerson and Revis said that too.

Sterling?  He didn't catch a ball between week 2 and the final game against the Pats.  He had 5 on 8 targets for 75 yards.  Not a bad day, but I would't go giving him a starting job.  Especially since he is a tweener WR/TE and isn't going to give you much, if anything, as an inline blocker.  He is going on his 4th season in the NFL, has 0TDs and 18/192 in 30 games. Somebody here knew/knows him growing up and he seems worth keeping around to see what he shows in camp, but I don't exactly look at the guy and think I'm set at TE.

EDITED because FWIW, profootballreference.com has his age as 29, but he is actually 4 years younger.

Absolutely not. I agree. I really meant someone who can start over him and him play back up. But as you said..even more of being just a camp body would ideal. I’d even be for moving Enunwa back to TE and he is a Linebackers nightmare.

Graham, Cousins, D. Lawrence and top OL available in FA. Keep 3 top 50 picks - go offense - and you’re starting to look like a real NFL roster.

Pass

Graham’s been good once in the past three years and Lawrence is more Calvin Pace than DeMarcus Ware.

This guy is perennially on the roster bubble and now he's rejecting contracts and trying steer other players towards teams...I guess we should let 16 year old McDonald's employees run NASA

Perennially on the roster bubble is kind of harsh.  He is still finishing up his rookie deal.  He's never been on the street and the Jets had a pretty early waiver claim when they scooped him up.  I think he was right to reject 2/$4M.  His agent would have been negligent to accept.  I posted in another thread - Niles Paul, Lance Kendricks and Lee Smith got similar money.  Is anybody excited for that group as opposed to ASJ?  Contracts are going up, so those guys would generally get more now.  I assume they will meet somewhere south of $3M in the Trey Burton, Anthony Fasano, James Hanna range.

Wow. That would be something else.

Imagining an offense with Cousins*, Guice*, Powell, Anderson, Kearse, Campbell* and Graham* behind a better OL. ??

Hard to see why he would pass on 2/$4mil. ?

Good riddance. Sefarian-Jenkins was quietly one of the worst players in the league last year.

Oh and this

——

How they should fix TE this offseason:

Trey Burton through FA

Dallas Goedert and/or Jaylen Saunders in the draft

RB, TE, OL, and QB can almost completely be turned over this offseason if the Jets show some chutzpah and/or pizzazz.

I think you're going to see a very aggressive Mac this off-season and will be looking to tun over the roster.  I do have faith this is going to happen.

We're going to finally have an impact player or two on the roster.

What TE and Pass rusher would you like to sign? Both of which are major needs on this team.

Pass rusher is something I would draft. If the Jets do the offseason right pass rusher is their only major immediate need at 6. There’s also always a solid WALDO/SPARQ/TWITCH guy or three available between days two and three.

I like the Eagles’ TE Burton in FA. FO had him as a top 10 TE by DYAR and top 3 by DVOA for 2017. IIRC he’s only 26 or 27 next year.

Didn’t Lawrence go wreaking havoc on QB’s for like 5 weeks straight? Sack after sack after sack.

Yes he did, and at points he was unblockable. Which is why he'll never hit free agency.

We don’t need that kinda consistency and productivity here.

He more than doubled his career sack total last year.

I don’t think he’s a bad player or anything, just there’s similar or bigger impact FAs on offense in the same price range that make most sense for the Jets.

Let's check with David Harris to see who he thinks should run NASA.

Burton (PHI) does look like a player.

Jimmy Graham is finished.  Lot of wear an tear
