JetsFanatic
I personally thought Morton did a nice job last year given the talent on offense. On the other hand if you are going to make a change this may be the year to do it becuase in all likelyhood we will have all differant QBs on the team next season. He’s 51 so not leaning young, but his Steelers offense was badass. Plus it makes my Cousins + Bell dream a liiiiittle more likely.

But we had an all rookie Safety who didn’t notch even one INT. How can this be? We won 5 games (really 3, 2 were absolute gifts) when we shouldn’t have won 1. How do you fire the one guy responsible for such success and keep the guys (Bowles, Mac and Rodgers) who are responsible for such failure?
JetNation
Well, that didn’t last very long, did it? After several days of sending out tweets referring to a “storm brewing” in Florham Park, New York Daily News beat write Manish Mehta is now filling in the blanks, telling Jets fans that the team is parting ways with offensive coordinator John Morton after just one season. Sources: #Jets are firing OC John Morton — Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) January 17, 2018 Morton’s offense was ranked just 28th in scoring in the NFL, but the unit looked light years better than many had anticipated prior to the start of the season. Unlike the parts defensive coordinator Kacy Roders had to work with on his side of the ball, Morton didn’t have a unit loaded with several first and second-round picks. Candidates rumored to be up for the job include current Jets quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates and Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. Recently fired Steelers coordinator Todd Haley will surely be mentioned as well. For some reason, one name that hasn’t been mentioned in previous searches is Jets receivers coach Karl Dorrell. Despite blowing multiple fourth-quarter leads and ranking 22nd in points allowed with the majority of the Jets resources spent on defense, there have been no rumblings regarding Rodgers who has been a close friend of Bowles since their days working together with the Miami Dolphins dating back to 2011. Sonny Werblin
Thought he did a good job. I was concerned that Petty and Hack did not improve at all with him. Petty was worse. Bottom line, if he was not liked in the building and not connecting with players, other than the 38 year old QB, he had to go. Can't really criticize the move until we see the replacement.
