The Jets have fired offensive-line coach Steve Marshall, the team announced.

The Jets announced today that offensive line coach Steve Marshall will not return in 2018.

Marshall, who just completed his third season with the Green & White, was hired in 2015 after having served as an assistant offensive line coach for the Green Bay Packers in 2014. His other NFL stops included a four-year stint with the Houston Texans as an offensive line assistant in 2002-03 and offensive coach in 2004-05. He also worked in Cleveland as the Browns’ O-line coach in 2007-08.

In 1979, Marshall began his coaching career at Plymouth State.  In addition to his 10 seasons coaching in the NFL, Marshall coached nearly three decades in the collegiate ranks and had stops at Tennessee, Marshall, Louisville, Murray State, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Texas A&M, North Carolina, California, Colorado and New Mexico State.

Jets also bringing in Brian Callahan, the Lions former QB’s coach, to interview for the same position.

Looks like they wanted him as the new QB’s coach all along, not as an OC.

He's also interviewing for TN OC

I remember Balldinger breaking down the Jets Oline play this year a couple of times and he was really impressed with the scheme.  Said they were doing some really creative stuff considering the talent.

So this makes sense.

Todd can you comment?
