Hey guys, so I have an agent friend. The same friend that told me Hack was a lock for us a week before the draft. He told me that the Jets are preparing a 180 million dollar contract with 100 guaranteed to Kirk.

My source says not only will the Jets land Cousins, but Barkley is a lock to fall to #6.

Good times ahead, gents.

This RB class is very deep. I still don’t see the value in a first round RB. Barkley is a great running back but I just don’t see the value. Would depend on how free agency got figured out.

And Jay Cutler shouldn’t be a consideration for this team at any level. Ever. No.

Secondly, I've heard that Jay Cutler could be a Jet as soon as this week. I have connections with Vayner Sports and McCown/Cousins have same agency.

Take it for what it's worth. He's been right and wrong in the past.

If this agent represents Cutler, Cutler needs a new agent since he doesn't know what he's talking about..Per my sources

I'm pretty sure the Dolphins haven't released Cutler so he can't sign w/anyone until the league year starts when his contract expires.

Even if Cutler was available/free to sign today, why would the Jets sign Cutler and then sign Cousins?

This comment is more about your profile gif... This is the video. His team loves him, will play hard for him... intangibles / leadership

Yeah, agree with everyone else that the combo of both Cousins and Cutler makes no sense.  In regards to the latter, my only guess is the basis of that report would be Cutler's history with Bates.  Given how highly he's spoken of Bates in the past, it's entirely possible Cutler would be the one who'd want to make that move, rather than the other way around.

The only other possibility would be if Cutler would be considered some sort of backup plan, if they weren't to land Cousins, although I wouldn't be so thrilled with that.

In regards to that Cousins offer, if at all accurate, I would imagine that means the offer would likely be for 6 years, maybe 7.

Double qb option spread.

He said that Cousins isn’t a lock so Cutler is backup plan. I don’t believe it either tbh. I do believe the Cousins aspect

Look, I wouldn’t want to ruin my rep and spread lies so take it for its worth.

The source is via Vayner Sports

My guess is the Cutler part is mostly coming from his camp, in an attempt to either drum up interest throughout the league or send a message to the Jets that he wants to make that move (as Cutler is a known big fan of Bates).

That at least makes a bit more sense.  Obviously Cutler wouldn't be a long-term answer, so you'd think if they were planning to go QB in the draft anyway if they missed out in Cousins, they'd simply bring back McCown.

To me based on what your sources are saying, I am hearing:

JETS #1 target is Cousins

if that fails then Cutler is the #2 option (probably due to the Bates connection) and we will draft a QB, which Bowles will leave on the bench for 3 years as Cutler gives us the best chance to win.

Edit: i’m now hearing Cutler is a backup plan. The Cousins source is stronger so take the Cutler one w grain of salt.

I take it that’s 6 years, $180? Good lord

I agree about Barkley. I love him as a RB but I just don't see the value at 6. Not when the team has massive other needs. Frankly, if we landed cousins I would be on board to trade down as we need DE Pass Rusher- assuming Wilk is released, RB, O-line, O-line, and O-line.

Good lord indeed. But also the only way the Jets will get him. And probably close to what the going rate is on a long term deal for a 'Franchise' QB. Whether you agree that Cousins is a 'Franchise' QB is a completely irrelevant, b/c there WILL be a team that believes that he is, and not just the Jets.

Cutler isn’t an option. that was last year he was an option

Cousins' current contract is $24MM and 100% guaranteed so yes, he's going to look for a larger contract than $25MM. He's definitely landing somewhere between $25-30MM.

I'm not sold that he's worth that contract and I'd love to see us land a early 20s starter in the draft; but reality is this is not a coaching regime that seems capable of coaching up a young QB. I'd rather spend the money at QB and draft great supporting cast.

Keepin mind the 180 million is in the same rumor as Cutler gets signed next week; oh wait, Cutler is the backup plan; oh wait, That was last year not this year! ?

Maccagnon knows he is tied to a very limited Bowles. Cousins gives him the best chance at staying GM instead of rolling the dice on a young QB. He will give Cousins whatever he wants for his own Job security not necessarily whats best for the team.

I don't think the Jets will sign Cutler but he actually played well for the Fins last season. I don't know abut Tannehill, if he's in their plans. Maybe they want to draft a Qb too. As for the money for Cousins why is he attracting such high salaries. He is good but not great. I wouldn't give him that deal. I could see McCown going to KC maybe as a backup to the kid.
