TuscanyTile2
The obvious answer is no but on the other side: -He is only 22 years old and they originally said they'd need 1-2 years to "rebuild him" (or whatever the phrase was). He's had 2 full years now. -Jeremy Bates is an in-house guy so I assume he won't have to completely start from scratch learning the offense. -The guy who drafted him (Macc) is still the GM. Of course all indications are the Jets are going to do something at QB (Cousins? Draft a QB with the 1st pick - possibly trading up?) However, is it possible Hack sticks on the roster and has a surprisingly good training camp? I realize this is very much a long-shot considering Bowles (who is also still here) seems to hate Hack. But will Macc push for Hack to get a shot? Who knows. With the Jets luck though they'll probably make a big move ($$ and years to Cousins or trade away a ton of draft capital to acquire a top QB prospect) and Hack will end up being the better QB but for another team (maybe Tom Brady's successor down the line?) bla bla bla
He'll get a chance to show his worth in training camp. I doubt we cut him if there is any sort of growth because he's still cheap for 2 more years. If you need to get to your 2nd or 3rd QB generally that ends your season anyway (except for the Vikings). If he flames out again and we have a capable backup then he'll be cut. I don't believe he will get a chance to start barring some crazy 180 turn because I expect us to get Cousins or a rookie at #6 and either move is likely the end of Hack ever getting a chance to start here. Just gotta hope he shows enough to be a backup or enough to get any sort of pick for him.
bgivs21
Unfortunately no. They punted that option by starting McCown last year. He should have gotten 1-2 starts last year. The way this year is shaping up, we'll end up with Cousins. Hack will sit on bench. Eventually traded to a San Fran type team for a 4th rounder & win the last 5 games of the season. Providing hope for that franchise as we sit here with a declining cousins.

Freemanm
It can't hurt to let him come to training camp, but if he's still throwing at receivers' feet in preseason games like he has been in the past two years, I'd say cut him before the season begins. NoBowles
I sure as hell hope not, it would really suck if he actually came to camp and showed promise. kmnj
he should not be here nor should mac for drafting Hack in the first place but I could point out tons of other mistakes Mac has made as well. It is comical that anybody can defend Mac or his drafts at this point. Our roster is one of the worst in the league-I dont think Mac will cut Hack though as that would be him admitting how terrible this pick was-he will just take up a roster spot again this year and not be played
ChuckkieB
Hack should NOT be on the team under any circumstances next year. He's not going to be given a chance to play whether the starting QB is Kirk Cousins or a rookie. Another veteran will be brought in to back up Cousins or the rookie QB or even to temporarily start until said rookie QB is ready. This leaves no room for Hackenberg for anything other than a 3rd string, non dress every week QB for the third straight year. Mac needs to admit he made a mistake and fill that slot with someone who can actually pretend to be an NFL QB for a few quarters at a time in an emergency situation.
